"How about here?" I ask and Jungkook gives a nod of approval. I place the basket down on the table. It was a picnic table underneath a tall tree giving us shade from the hot sun. Jungkook helps me take out all the food and the drinks before we both dig in.
"You look very nice today," Jungkook says after we've eaten for a while. I feel heat rise to my face, but I try to brush it off as the sun hitting my face.
"Why thank you. You look very nice as well." He was wearing a black tee tucked into a pair of blue jeans. He made even simple outfits like that look good. We continue to eat in peace, enjoying the fresh air and the occasional conversation. A few families walk by, little children running around at their feet.
"So cute," I mutter smiling softly. Jungkook looks over at the children and smiles.
"They are." We enjoy the sun for a while longer, but the sun is getting hotter and all the food is gone.
"Let's put this back in the car." We quickly pack up the mess from our lunch and walk back to the car. Jungkook leans against the car, watching me as I put the basket in the trunk. I see my camera and pull it out. Jungkook looks at me curiously.
"What's that for?" He asks intrigued by the sudden appearance of the camera.
"You'll see. Feel up for a walk?" Jungkook nods and I place the camera straps around my neck. I close the truck and Jungkook steps over to join me.
"After you." I begin to walk towards a trailhead near us with Jungkook right by my side. The trees are thicker here so as we enter the trail the temperature feels like it drops a few degrees. My eyes wander around, admiring the beauty of the trees and earth. I begin to lose myself into my own world when a warm hand intertwines with mine. I look over startled to see Jungkook is looking away, but his hand is holding my own.
"My hand was cold." He says quietly and I'm about to comment on how his hand is warm, but I choose not to and to accept his hand. I won't lie, it felt nice. His grip wasn't too strong, but soft. We continue to walk around. Whenever one of us found an animal or a cool plant we'd stop and point it out to each other. Sometimes Jungkook would point with the hand connected to mine, bringing our enclosed hands up for me to see. Other times he would begin to swing our arms dramatically, making me laugh.
After maybe ten or so minutes of walking, we reach the clearing. The path led us to the beach, with soft sands and blue waves. I let go of Jungkook's hand and hold my camera up to my eyes. I click the button, taking a few shots of the sand.
"Ah, now I see why you brought the camera," Jungkook says as I look around for another view to capture. I'm about to run into the sand before I get an idea.
"Can you hold this quickly?" I ask taking off my camera and handing it out to Jungkook. He nods and tenderly grabs it. I bend down and untie my shoes. Pulling them off I tie the laces together before shoving my socks into my shoes. Jungkook hands me back my camera before taking his own shoes off. Satisfied with my measures I begin to walk into the sand. I was hot underneath my feet and felt so nice.
"It's so warm." I smile, enjoying the soft sand underneath my feet. I bring my camera out again and begin to take a few more photos. I turn my lens over to the water and in the frame I see Jungkook smiling. He looks so photogenic I couldn't resist and took the picture. He hears the camera shutter and looks over in my direction. I snap another photo, capturing the surprised look on his face.
"Did you just take a picture of me?" He asks, walking closer to me. Slowly moving closer, one foot in front of the other.
"Um, no?" It comes out sounding more like a question rather than a statement. He raises an eyebrow, clearly seeing through me. I lower the camera and find that Jungkook is closer than I expected. As soon as the camera clears my chin Jungkook is in front of me. I gulp nervously and back up slowly. My heart was slowly beating faster and faster.
"Are you sure?" He asks again, taking another few steps towards me.
"Alright, I did. But the lighting was great! I had to take advantage of it!" I take another couple of steps back, but Jungkook is closing in fast.
"Let me see." He has a smile on his face, but I can't exactly tell what kind of smile it is.
"Umm maybe." He frowns, his smile slowly begins to transform into a pout. His eyes take on a sparkle and I feel my will slowly disappear. I take my camera off slowly and cautiously hand it over. Jungkook takes it gratefully and clicks through the photos. As he looks through the photos of him he smiles softly, just the tips of his lips being tugged upward. He hands me back the camera, our hands grazing.
"I approve." He simply says, making me raise an eyebrow.
"You approve?" I ask, placing the camera back around my neck. My heart was beginning to regain its normal speed now.
"Yes, I look good in the photos." I raise an eyebrow at him.
"And what if it wasn't a good photo." I challenge and he merely smiles at me.
"Well, we don't have to worry about that." I reach down and grab a handful of sand and toss it at Jungkook, aiming for his chest. He clutches where I hit him and pretends to have been shot, getting down on his knees before grabbing a large handful of sand and throwing it at me. I let out a yelp as Jungkook grabs another handful of sand. My eyes widen and I quickly try to run away, making the mistake of running towards the water. He follows me with the handful of sand and throws it at me, covering my front in sand.
An hour passes before we begin to tire. We brush off the rest of the sand and walk back to the trail before putting our shoes on. We walk back to the car and I put the camera back in the trunk before jumping in the front seat. We listen to the radio while I drive. 'I Like It' came on and both Jungkook and I began to sing along. His voice was so smooth, like honey.
We got to his door and we said goodbyes and I drove off, heading back home to tell Jimin everything that happened.
