"WHAT DO YOU mean no?" Raven's voice boomed through my phone. I closed my eyes and rubbed my ears. How was someone as petite as her so damn loud?
"I'm sorry," I said for the seventh time. "Like I told you, they're leaving next week and I have to watch Ollie."
"Why can't they bring him with them?" she whined.
"Raven..." I sighed. "I can't, I'm sorry."
"This is so unfair."
"Tell me about it," I agreed.
"Can we do a movie night tonight?" she suggested, changing the topic.
I breathed a sigh of relief that she was no longer yelling at me. "That'd be great. You pick the movie and I'll order food."
"See you tonight," she said before hanging up.
I slipped my phone in my back pocket and went outside to finish helping Oliver. I had a pack of disposable cups in my hand, and I was bringing them to him when I noticed the brat from yesterday making his way to the lemonade stand.
"So this is your stand, huh?" The kid snickered. "I'm not surprised it's dead."
"Leave me alone or I'm gonna call my big sister," Oliver warned.
"I'm not scared of that twig," the kid retorted, making me gasp. By no means was I going to let a prepubescent rat call me a twig.
"Can we help you?" I demanded as I made my way over to his kid.
"I just wanted to see the competition," he said innocently. "I'll take a cup."
Oliver and I eyed him suspiciously as he slipped some coins in the money box. My brother hesitantly poured a cup of lemonade, but just as he finished, that little shit grabbed the entire pitcher and knocked it down.
"Oops," he said, feigning innocence.
"My lemonade!" Ollie cried.
The kid cackled as he ran off, but I wasn't letting him get away with this. "Come on!" I grabbed Oliver's hand and we ran after him. Pretty soon we were back at the same place as yesterday. I was so tempted to knock down his whole stand, but I decided to be the bigger person.
"I'm surprised you were able to keep up, grandma," he spat.
Screw being the bigger person. "Listen, you little shit—"
Oliver gasped.
"—there's one thing for you to open up your own stupid stand, but there's another to mess with my brother." I grabbed him by the front of his shirt. "You'll be sorry once I'm done with you."
"What the hell are you doing?" a voice barked, instantly making me freeze in my tracks. Oh God, don't tell me it was...
My thoughts were interrupted when a hand clamped on my shoulder. I turned around to see Shane, the evil hot brother from yes— I stopped myself mid thought. There was no way I thought he was hot. This guy was basically the devil personified!
"This crazy lady came out of nowhere and attacked me!" the little brother cried.
I rolled my eyes. "Nice lie, idiot. You came to my house and knocked down my brother's lemonade."
"It was an accident," he claimed innocently.
"My ass," I scoffed, completely forgetting my impressionable little brother was right behind me.
"Don't you have something better to do?" Shane scoffed. "Aren't you a little too old to be fighting with kids?"
"Isn't your brother a little too old to be fighting with a five year old?" I countered.
