I ROLLED OVER to hit the snooze button on my alarm clock the next morning, confused when I couldn't feel my clock or hear an alarm. My eyes slowly opened, and once they adjusted to the lighting I almost screamed. This was not my bedroom...
I sat up straight and rubbed my tired eyes, memories of last night flooding in. I let out a breath of relief when I realized I was in Cher's house and had not been kidnapped. It didn't add up though. I didn't remember coming upstairs last night, I was almost certain I fell asleep on the couch.
Really not wanting to overstay my welcome, I changed back into my work clothes, and tried to fix up my rat nest excuse for hair. I made sure I had everything in my bag, and then I exited the bedroom to look for the nearest bathroom. I opened the door without a second thought, not expecting to see a near naked Shane. My jaw dropped when I realized he was clad in nothing but a towel. He let out a scream, which in turn, made me scream too.
"Heard of something called privacy?"
I tried to avert my gaze from his bare chest but I couldn't. "I didn't know anyone was in here."
"Don't you knock?" he demanded.
I hated to admit it, but I kind of liked the sight in front of me. Obviously this admiration was ruined when Shane reminded me just how obnoxious he was. I balled my hands into fists by my side, frustrated by his response. "Maybe you should learn how to lock a door."
He raised his eyebrows. "Oh, so this is my fault?"
"If you locked the door we wouldn't be here."
He laughed dryly. "Maybe if you used your pea sized brain, you could've deduced that someone was in here."
"Maybe you should've used yours and locked the door." I grabbed a bar of soap on the sink beside me. "Here, maybe this will get your braincells moving."
"What is going on here?" Cher walked in just as I was about to throw the soap bar at her idiotic son's head. She glanced at me, and then at Shane before shaking her head. "Actually, I don't want to know. Breakfast is ready."

After that jolly start to our morning, all five of us sat in silence as we ate our food. Austin and Oliver tried to avoid eye contact, whereas Shane and I were staring daggers at each other.
Cher cleared her throat, but that didn't make us budge in the slightest. "So... How did everyone sleep?"
I scooped a forkful of egg as Shane poured a glass of milk, none of us breaking eye contact. "Fine," we said simultaneously, making us glare at each other even more.
"Am I missing something?" She looked at both of us in utter confusion.
"Your neighbour is an uncivilized guest," Shane sneered.
"And your son is an unmannered host," I responded.
"Whatever it is that happened between you two, cut it out," Cher snapped. "You're both adults, so start acting like it."
"Can I have more juice?" Oliver asked.
"I'll get it," Shane and I answered, yet again in sync.
Cher sighed at us. "Max go, Shane sit."
I couldn't help but smirk triumphantly at him as Oliver and I went to the kitchen. I rummaged through the fridge in search of apple juice, my eyes landing on something far more valuable. "Ollie," I whispered as I took out a pitcher of what I presumed to be Austin's lemonade.
His eyes widened at the sight, and before he could say anything, I poured it in his glass. Oliver took a sip, and then I took one too. We looked at each other in shock.
