F U L F I L L I N G//an ode to self
The law of diminishing gratitude explains how at times,
Blessings become burdens,
And what was once desired, seems dubious.Maybe it's the way we are fashioned,
We value and then we don't.
We keep happiness in pockets and then empty them out,
Running in circles.Insecurities creep out of nowhere,
Like a roar of thunder in spring,
Loud and unwanted. We love ourselves and then we don't,
A thirst quenched and a parched throat.
We start seeing with alien eyes,
And decide that lies will suffice. On bleak days and sunny days,
When you watch yourself grow dim with worries,
Look at your hands.
The hands that have nurtured,
Young dreamers into believers,
And arms that have cradled,
The future with affection.Look at your shoulders,
Pillars of support,
Which have shouldered responsibilities,
Borne tears,
Carried mountains,
And have stood upright.Look at your stomach,
Which could digest the hardest of truths,
With such strength and vitality.Look at your legs,
Which, despite the occasional bruises,
Refused to buckle and fall to submission,
And walked on relentlessly.Look at your brain,
Brimming with ideas,
And bubbling with life.
A mother's wagging finger,
When you strayed to the wrong track,
And a nod of approval,
To stay put on the right. Finally, look at yourself,
A miracle, who has lived and loved.
Look how you've carried yourself throughout,
Tolerated a whole universe,
With its erratic ways,
And come so far.Endless possibilities line your being,
Even on the toughest of days,
You might think otherwise,
But you're sparkling.
A spark so bright,
A spark unparalleled. At the end of the day,
It is a good day to live.
The moment is seized. So here's to a new sun,
And a most fulfilling moon.//allow yourself to bloom
