Chapter 5: Stood up

Melinas POV

sure how can I help you I replied I wanted to ask you to do some research about the project and when you come to my house we can combine our ideas he asked yeah that makes a lot of sense I replied cool so see you tomorrow I guess he replied and was about to leave Lucas wait, do you perhaps want to meet up later so that we can like hang and take about our idea for the project so that we can feel comfortable around each other tomorrow I asked hoping in my heart that he would agree. He thinks about it for like 2 minutes but he reluctantly agrees and I tell him we should meet up at café Appetite at 5.

I go back to the table and all eyes are on me, I continue eating my lunch and the girls start bombarding me with questions. what did you talk about Clarissa asked when are you going to his house Jessica asked What does he smell like Kate asked so are you guys like friends Fernandez asked as more questions follow. guys would you relax let her finish her lunch Jake stops them Thanks I thank him for helping me. Dont think we are done with you Kate says to me btw Melina can I have your number so that I can add you to the group and then we can all have your number, since we are all friends Clarissa asked Aww thanks it will be my pleasure I tell her as I take the last bite of my sandwich.

Finally it is the end of school, I go towards the bus stop Hey new girl I feel someone tap my shoulder hey Jake I turn around as I see Jake smiling at me so you are also taking the bus he asked me well it looks like it I say as I chuckle do you always take the bus I asked him as we both enter the bus no it is just for today, my car is at the mechanic he tells me as we take a seat that is cool you have a car I tell him yeah I guess so, do perhaps want a ride to and from school tomorrow he ask me I know it is weird since I just met you but we are friends arent we? so what do you say? he ask me Sure why not, let me give my number so that I can text you my address I tell him dont worry about Clarrisa already added you to the group he says oh! I reply as we continue talking about random things.

The bus comes to a stop and I realize this is my stop I guess this is my stop, bye I say as I stand up I will call he says with a smile I will be excepting your call I replied with a smile as I get off the bus and continue smiling as I walk towards my house. I open the door, walk in and shut the door behind me. My dog comes towards the front door and starts wagging her tail which means she is happy hi Jolly did you miss me I bend towards her level and play with her for some time before going upstairs to take a shower. After that I go down stairs to get a snack before going back upstairs to get ready to meet up with Lucas at Café Appetite by 5. I up to the clock and see the time the time is almost 4:30pm but mom is not back.

My mom is the most hardworking person I know, she has been both my dad and mom since I was born, she has given me everything I need and has always been around for me even though she is always working. When my mom figured out my dad was married she ran to America because she was heartbroken and she didnt want me to get too close to my dad because she knew he might not give as much attention and love as he gives his children with his wife because to my mom she was the other woman.

When she came to America, she struggled a lot by working numerous jobs both in the day and at night just so I do not suffer when I was born. That is why I try my best I earn some money in order to help her by babysitting and dog walking.

I look at the time again and see it is almost 5 and I rush upstairs to get ready. I pick out a blue cropped hoodie with black jeans and my Vans. I go downstairs after I get dressed, I grab my bag, phone and my keys. I tell Jolly bye as I open the door, walk out and lock the door behind me. I walk to the café since it is a 15 minutes walk from my house. I connect my eyephones to phone and start listening to music as I start walking to the café.

I reach the café 10 minutes after 5, I look around for Lucas but I dont see him. Maybe he is on his way I tell myself as I start scrolling through Instagram to while away time as I wait for him.

20 minutes later

I look at the time and realize twenty minutes have past and he is not here. I call him but he doesnt pick up and I start to worry may be something has happened to him.

The waiter approaches me for the third time and I decide to order a smoothie to relax.

I get my smoothie and decide to wait for ten more minutes but still no sign of Lucas.

I look at the time realizing it is almost 6 and get up from my seat, pay for the smoothie and go home when I realized I have been played by Lucas Foster.
