Dedicated toDiaConstant

We head straight to the beauty parlour after leaving the store, all smiles and chatter.

While we wait to be attended to, we order some snacks and munch away, soaking in the relaxing vibe. Soon enough, it's our turn, and we decide to go all out both manicure and pedicure.

After our nails are done, we move on to our hair. A full-on glow-up session.

My nails end up painted a stunning aquamarine with dark sparkles total mermaid vibes. Matilda picks a cheerful yellow to match her outfit, and Becca goes bold with a royal blue polish.

We've been here for like two hours, and honestly? We didn't even notice. That's how much fun we were having.

But reality hits I'm pretty sure the boys are fuming by now.

Once we're done and paid up, we make our way toward the carriage pickup point. On the way, Becca casually mentions she'll be joining us for the ride.

Thankfully, the carriage is roomy enough for all five of us.

As we approach the spot, I can't help but burst into laughter. The boys are standing there, looking like they're about to explode.

Okay, maybe I'm exaggerating... but Carlos is pacing like he's about to declare war, and Fynn's leaning against the carriage, clearly not thrilled.

"Oh girls, we are so dead," Becca mutters under her breath.

"Carlos is definitely going to chew us out," Matilda adds.

"You girls seriously need to chill. It's not like he's going to kill us or anything," I say, laughing.

Fynn spots us first and straightens up.

"Finally! Where have you ladies been?" he asks, exasperated.

"Around," Matilda replies nonchalantly.

"Around?" Carlos snaps. "We've been looking everywhere for you! We've been waiting here forever."

"Yeah, right. 'Everywhere'," I mutter just loud enough for the girls to hear.

They both giggle.

"What was that?" Carlos demands. "Do you even realize what time it is? It's almost five! And here you are making jokes."

"We're sorry, Car," Matilda says sweetly.

"I'm not sorry," I say, folding my arms. "And for the record, you didn't look everywhere. We were at the beauty parlour, which is honestly the most obvious place to find us. And about time, you're wasting more of it complaining, so can we just go already?"

"You're so—" Carlos starts, but Fynn steps in.

"Alright, that's enough. Both of you. Let's just head home," he says firmly.

"I second that," Becca adds, finally breaking her silence.

Carlos glares at me one last time before stomping into the carriage. Fynn and Becca follow.

"You love getting on my brother's nerves, don't you?" Becca teases with a grin.

"Someone's gotta do it."

"Well, I'm impressed. It's been ages since I saw someone stand up to him like that," she says, clearly amused.

"Ladies! Are we going or not?" Fynn calls from inside the carriage.

"Coming!" Matilda responds, and we climb in after them.

The ride back is pretty quiet. My mind drifts again... to Emily.

I really wish she were here with me today. I can almost hear her excited rambling about dancing at the ball. She's been looking forward to this for so long. I just hope her horrible parents don't stop her from coming.

I need to talk to her. I'll find her at the ball. I have to.

"Did you guys buy anything for the ball?" Matilda asks, snapping me out of my thoughts.

"Not really," Fynn replies casually.

The others start chatting, but I'm too deep in thought, rehearsing everything I want to say to Emily.

"Heeey..." Becca says, snapping her fingers in front of my face.

All eyes turn to me.

"Yeah?" I say, blinking.

"You've been quiet the whole ride. You okay?" Matilda asks, concerned.

"Yeah, I'm good. Just thinking about some stuff," I say with a small smile.

"Alright... So, will you be joining us for dinner?" she offers.

"I'll pass. It's already late, and I've got some things to take care of at home."

"Aww, why?" she pouts.

"I really need to head back," I say gently.

"Fine then," she sighs.

"We'll pick you up at eight. No delays!" Becca says firmly.

"You don't have to. I'll find my own way," I protest.

"Oh, come on, Ciara! Don't be so stubborn let us do this for you," she insists.

"I agree," Fynn chimes in.

"Wait, aren't you guys going with your parents? The carriage might get too crowded."

"Please. Our parents are taking a different one," Matilda assures me.

Carlos, of course, has to ruin the moment. "Why are you guys making such a big deal out of it? Let her go on her own. It's not like her presence will change anything."

"Carlos! Don't be rude," Matilda scolds.

"Don't worry, Mat. I'll join you guys," I say with a smirk, just to spite him.

Carlos rolls his eyes and looks out the window like I'm invisible.

"Great! Can't wait," Becca says, clearly pleased.

The carriage finally comes to a stop.

"Well, this is my stop. See you guys at eight!" I say as I hop off.

"Byee!" the girls wave.

Fynn flashes a warm smile, while Carlos stares out the window, pretending I don't exist.

Seriously, how do I put up with that boy without snapping?

I close the carriage door and watch as it rolls away.

I unlock my front door and step into my house, my mind still buzzing with thoughts of Emily.
