"and class, don't forget to turn in page 394 tomorrow! i expect it to be handed in at the door!"

seb turned over in his chair to put his books in his backpack. it felt like the longest day to him, and he couldn't wait for drama after school. he'd been antsy all day. he and ej had been "talking" after the incident in seb's room. it's been a couple months though, which to seb's knowledge, was way too long for just "talking".

he got up and slung his backpack over his shoulder as he gave his teacher a small wave and rushed out the door; he needed to find ashlyn, she would know where ej was.

weeding his way through the crowd of people-why people can't just walk on one side of the hall and not stand in the middle, seb will never understand- he finally got to ashlyn's locker. "hey, ash!"

ashlyn jumped a little before she looked over and saw seb leaning against the locker next to hers. "jeez, seb, a warning next time," she said, even though she was smiling. she closed her locker as she put her backpack on one shoulder. "what's up?"

they started to head down the hall, ashlyn's arm linked with seb's. seb leaned his head down slightly has he spoke, "how's ej doing? i mean, like, have you seen him, or anything?"

ashlyn cocked her head to the side slightly. seb never asked about ej. in fact, almost no one did. and it's not like ej had told her anything. he's not one to have too many issues. "i mean, he's here in school today, if that's what you're asking. but, no, he hasn't said there's anything wrong. he's the same old ej!"

once they reached the door, seb opened it for ashlyn as he spoke, "oh, okay. i haven't seen him all day, i didn't know if he was sick or something."

ashlyn cocked an eyebrow at this as she turned back to face seb. "oh, well that's new."

seb cleared his throat as he felt heat rising in his cheeks. "um, what's new?"

they were the first ones there, so ashlyn set her bag down next to a chair of her choice as seb settled at the piano. "you're worried about ej. it's cute," she said, smiling as she took her seat and pulled out her script.

seb's eyes widened as he pulled out his sheet music. "i hardly think anything is cute. i simply just wanted to know if he was alright."

ashlyn nodded her head as more people started to trickle into the room. seb played a few chords on the piano as he sat in thought. does she know? did he tell her? or is she just that good?

seb heard a huff of breath and a bag fall to the ground. he looked up and it was ej, but something was off. he looked extra tired, but not as if he was going to fall asleep. more like just over everything, which concerned seb. is it about the show, or me? was this a mistake?

seb forced himself to push those thoughts down, however, when miss jenn came walking in, carlos in tow. "okay, people! it's a blocking day, and we'll really only need a few people. however, everyone is welcome to stay and watch! carlos?"

carlos stepped up beside miss jenn as color rose in his cheeks. "um, yes, we'll only need ej to sing today, as we'll be working on 'if i can't love her', but feedback is encouraged, if that's alright with you?"

ej cleared his throat as he stood up and rubbed his hands on his jeans. "yep, probably gonna need it, honestly," he replied, a hint of a laugh in his voice. he shed his jacket, grabbed his script out of his bag, and went to grab a music stand.
