Mike was seated in his state room when Sancha entered to discuss their mission with him. She closed the door and looked at him with a frown when she noticed he was teary and beaten down. "Captain?"
"Lieutenant..." He looked up and shook his head.
"What's wrong?" She walked up to him and sat down on the chair next to him. "Does it have something to do with our mission?"
"Yes and no."
"So what's our plan of action?" she asked concerned.
"You know by now POTUS wants us to put our mission on hold until further notice with this pandemic. And Syria nuked New York. The entire city was wiped out."
"So we're in the midst of a nuclear war now?"
"On the brink. POTUS is negotiating with France, Italy and the UK for backup should the Syrians continue nuking us."
"Sounds like we're in for serious business. You think this ship can handle it?"
"She should. She's a battleship after all. There's something else."
Sancha frowned. "What is it?"
"I'm going to have to commission you as our new XO."

"Me?" Sancha asked surprised. "But isn't XO Grace capable of doing her job as an XO. From what I've seen she's more than capable."
"I'm having her decommissioned."
"But why? Was this your decision?"
"Yes."
"I...I really don't know what to say. XO Grace and I are friends and for me to take advantage of the situation. It's..."
"My decision is final lieutenant."
"I know I'm out of line, but can I ask you a personal question? Off the record."
"What is it you want to ask?"
"What's going on between you and XO Grace. Because one moment you can't keep your hands off each other. Lord knows you even slept with her. And the next moment you avoid her like the plague."
"It's just. I'm not over my breakup with Claudia yet, and I still have feelings for Bianca too. I don't know how to face her knowing..."
