A Turtle's Death

By Zean Allen LapuzI fear the outside world
Strangling the very souls of the frontlines
Sipping through their veins
Feeding themselves---no exception
Is this redemption? an abomination
The loud streets became the animals' home
The dirtiest rivers cleansed within
Is this salvation? a threat to humanity's annihilation
We fear what killed thousands
We fear what we cannot see
This is destruction---starvation and bad governanceI fear every senses
For one touch, could make you numb
For one smell, could stop your breathing
For one presence, could destroy your life.I fear the living
