richie wasn't one to let go easily but y/n was. whenever she knew something wasn't meant to be, she took action.
her and richie were a stable couple, but she felt like they were slipping away. she called him over to her house and he arrived a few minutes later.
"hey, beautiful." richie wore a pure smile on his face. she felt bad. "do you feel like we aren't meant to be?" y/n's voice came out barely as a whisper. "what? no. don't call it quits." he cupped her face in his hands, "just because it won't come easily, doesn't mean we shouldn't try." her eyes connected with his and a spark ignited in her chest. maybe she shouldn't call it off.
the next few weeks were steady, not exactly a fairytale, but steady. y/n had tested him, like talking to other boys or trying to see him explode like a bomb to see whether or not he would try to hold onto her and he had. richie has done almost everything for y/n. but she had barely done anything for him.
they were a messy couple; and everybody knew. y/n seemed to try to untangle the knots yet richie was fine with it, letting it slide.
and maybe y/n still wanted to be with him.
just because it won't come easily, doesn't mean we shouldn't try.
he always told her that when they were in a fight or in trouble and it stuck with her. maybe she should try with richie. maybe she's just stubborn.
