Chapter 3: The Strategy

Date: 842 CE

Location: York, Northumbria

It is now morning, and I shall continue this story of Runa the Wise. Now where was I? Oh yes, the strategy.

They were not to run directly in, since there were bowmen, so they will run in a zig zag movement. And some others were to try and sneak around from behind to take out the other guards and find the riches.

As Runa told them this, the York soldiers shifted their feet, uneasy with what the Vikings were doing. They thought they would just run directly in as that was what they did in all the stories they’ve had the chance to hear.

But then the York soldiers stood back to attention as the Vikings split back apart, as if waiting for something.

Runa sauntered over to the front of her army, readied her shield and lifted her sword, pointing it towards York. Then she swished it rapidly downwards—while praying to Odin that everything will work—so it was pointing towards the ground; her signal to commence.

Her army ran across the small field towards York and some—which included Runa—ran the long way as to avoid the archers. And as the archers were taken out,

Runa and the others ran into some soldiers and took them out quickly and expertly, which gave them an easier time to get to the riches. Or so they thought.

Runa knew something was up when it was way too easy to get to the grand building that looked to be the place where everything she was looking for was, so she had herself lead the small group that went with her as she cautiously walked through the doorway into the building.

As she walked through she had her sword in hand and ready to be used, which was good because as soon as she walked through the door her and her group was attacked by a wave of soldiers.

Oh my, someone happens to be calling me, I must go.
