A young girl happened to be the person calling me. I vaguely recognized her from my weekly storytelling I do with the children; she wanted me to meet her new friend that was new in town, she had told her friend that I was the best Skald she’s ever listened too. And that I “weave words as nicely as water flows down a stream.”

I smiled and thanked the girl, asking her name. “It is Astrid,” she then pointed to her friend, “and this is Kelda. She can’t talk but she still makes fine company.” Kelda smiled at Thyra and gave a thumbs up to acknowledge what Astrid said about her.

“Well, Astrid and Kelda, it is nice to meet you both, but I must get back to writing my tale so I can have it ready by tomorrow,” I said, turning around to leave.

“Wait!” Astrid yelled, “I have another question!” I turned around, interested in what she had to say, “Ok, just one more question, what does the question happen to be?”

Astrid shared a what seemed to be secret look with Kelda, and proceeded to ask the question, “We were wondering if you could tell us a small part of the story your writing right now,” she waved her hand in a dismissive motion, “but it’s fine if you deny us from it, you’ll tell us and the rest of the children soon enough.”

Astrid looked away, as if worried I will get annoyed with her or something of that nature. But I smiled, “Sure I’ll tell you her name,” they seemed to give me their full attention immediately, “she is known as Runa the Wise, and this is only one of her many tales.”

Astrid gasped, “That’s such an amazing title! I wonder how she got it!”

I was about to tell her that she’ll know in time, but she cut me off in her excitement and said, “I know, I know, we’ll find out when you finish it and tell us. But thank you so much Skald Thyra for that bit of information, may Odin continue guiding you in your work,” she grabbed Kelda’s arm, “let’s go and share this with the others now before the ship of Ragnar’s sails for the last time, so his spirit can get to Valhalla along with his thrall.”

They both smiled at me and waved before running away towards a group of houses in the distance.
