"If I thought I was replying to someone who would ever return to the world, this flame would cease it's flickering. But since no one has returned from these depths alive, if what I've heard is true, I will answer you without fear of infamy." -Dante Alighieri

Like most girls in this hell hole, which people call school I choose to use a large purse, instead of a backpack, so before every class I have to grab the books and notebooks that I will need. Not that I use them, but I have to keep up appearances.
In the moment my locker it's not what you would call organized or clean. But those adjectives are overrated anyway so who cares.
Why is it so hard to get anything out without having everything that is inside falling over me?
"I can't believe you did that.", says Nora suddenly beside me. "Anne told me what went down. How could you? After all that happened! The poor girl."
My body tenses, waiting for whatever she's about to yell at me. I glance at her and and raise my eyebrows questioningly. What is wrong with her?
"I mean, after all that she did to us, I should have been there!" She smirks. "I would have helped. You know how much I hate her." She pouts. "I missed all the fun!"
Thank god! I couldn't lose her to the dark side. I feel like a huge weight has just been lifted from my shoulders.
"For a moment I almost believed you had gone crazy." I turn back to the task at hand. Getting the books out without getting crushed.
"What are you doing? You don't have a secretly hidden gorilla in your locker that you're fighting with, do you?" Nora peers from behind my shoulder.
"What a stupid question. A gorilla would never fit in here. I wish it would because that would mean I practically had a walk in locker. A dream come true, I'm sure.", I say sarcastically, not taking my eyes from the mess about to fall off.
"Ahah." She says drily. "Funny."
I roll my eyes but don't answer her.
"Oh my god! What is that?" Nora sticks her harm out and grabs a dirty looking sock from the depths of my locker. "I didn't know your feet were this huge!" She brings the peace of cloth near her face and cautiously sniffs it."Or smelly..." Nora frowns with disgust.
I quickly take the sock from her hand and put it inside a gym bag.
"Because they're not." I wrinkle my nose. "They're Ryan's. The other day he asked me to keep his football things in here."
"Why?"she says incredulously as she comes around me to stand by my side instead of creepily staring over my shoulder.
"Does it matter?" I exhale loudly, clearly frustrated. This conversation is giving me a migraine.
With a final yank I'm able to get the books out.
"I guess not." She twirls a strand of hair between her fingers. "But seriously you should consider cleaning that dump you call a locker."
I got to admit, she has a point but right now that's the last thing in my mind.
I just have this weird feeling in my stomach since lunch. If only I was able to know for sure if what Courtney said was true."I know. Someday I won't be able to open it without everything inside spilling all over me." I pause for a moment, analyzing what just crossed my mind to make sure I wouldn't feel bad if I said it out loud. "You know what? I just realized something." I force my face to remain blank. "My locker and Courtney are, in a way, alike. They both have the urge to throw up whatever they have inside them."
