I raised my eyebrows and looked down at Elara, who sat there pleasantly as if nothing was the matter.

"Friend?" Orion finally asked, breaking the silence. Nym's smile turned feral and as she placed a soft hand on Elara's shoulder I knew she was staking a claim.

"Well yeah, she is my roommate after all." Nym waved her hand like the question was ridiculous, "look at her, she's just darling."

I clenched my hands as Elara just sat there innocently not understanding the poisonous words that we exchanged. She had gotten the short end of the stick when Nym was assigned as her roommate. The worst part was that Elara was oblivious to Nym's scheming and manipulation.

I pinched my lips and sent a quick glance over to Orion, whose face was stone cold. He met my eyes and lifted his chin just barely, he was thinking the same thing. Nym was a lying snake.

"Listen, you two don't need to gang up on me here. You see I actually have a... proposition." Nym slid her gaze over us, watching every movement and shift.

"What sort of proposition?" I asked, raising an eyebrow. All while yelling at my heart to slow the hell down. I shouldn't even be giving her the time of day, so why am I giving her the satisfaction of seeing me so nervous?

She just tilted her head, "come meet me at free time during lunch. We can discuss it then," she trailed her hand across Elara's shoulder and walked away.

A sharp silence filled the air, as we watched her pale figure disappear as she shoved past people.

Elara cleared her throat, drawing our attention away from Nym. She still sat in her seat, her eyebrows pinched as she watched us warily. Finally sensing the tension that had been coursing through the room.

"Do you and Nym have a... issue?" Elara asked, testing the waters carefully.

Orion replied before I could, "we are still settling an argument. Nothing you need to get into." He softened his words with a small smile, and before I could add on, commotion echoed around the room. The guards were shuffling people back towards their cells. I sent one more sad smile at Elara before Orion and I were rushed out.

The door to our cell closed behind us, and we could hear the guards moving away from the door. I sighed and fell onto my bed, groaning when I collided with the stiff mattress.

"I regret that," Orion glanced down at me and raised an eyebrow at my words. I simply muttered a few swear words into my pillow.

"Regret what? Talking to Elara?" He asked sitting hesitantly down on the bed next to me, I propped myself up on my elbows to look at him.

"I regret a lot, like belly-flopping on this rock of a mattress, not beating up Nyms' stupid smug face, but talking to Elara... no. I feel like- oh nevermind."

"You feel bad for her," Orion stated. I glared over at him, "I feel bad for her too. So don't give me that look." He added on, answering my glare with one of his own.

"I would feel bad for anyone that got stuck in the same room as Nym."

"So basically every single person in this prison at mealtimes?"

"Majority. Actually no, a lot of them are asses." Orion's chuckle echoed through the room, and a steady silence soon flooded us. I could still feel the awkwardness of this morning, it wasn't right of me to take my feelings out on him.

"Hey look about this morning, I didn't mean to be such a prick. I was in a mood, and I shouldn't have snapped at you like that." I pushed back a strand of hair and averted my face, god I hate apologizing. So embarrassing.

"No worries, we all have those days. But I think we should talk about something." Orion gave me a genuine smile, and I couldn't help the flutter in my stomach. "What Nym mentioned earlier, the whole meeting her at free time for a 'proposition.' Whatever the hell that means."

I nodded and sat up, "are we going to meet her?" Orion leaned back and looked up at the top of the bunk bed.

"I think for the sake of my curiosity, we need to. Plus she could be a good ally, even though she is such a-."

"Asshole. Bitch. Pain in the butt?"

"Yeah. Basically."
"As much as I'd rather shove her off a cliff, I agree. We need to know what she wants," I shrugged trying to force the blush that was rising on my cheeks away.

"It's a plan then."

"Yeah, it's a plan."
