When I walked into History I was welcomed by my teacher. She had a wrinkly face with gray hair to match.
“Welcome Miss. Peirce, I am Mrs. Stat your seat will be right over there by Jessie.” She said. I looked over into the direction she was pointing to find a guy with brown flipped back hair and blue eyes.
“Okay, Thanks.” I said as I headed to my seat. Once I sat down Mrs. Stat started to lecture on about how the Castle of Whatever and the importance of its history. After a couple minutes of sitting there Jessie taps me on the shoulder. When I look over he is pointing to his notebook that says
“Hey.” I looked over at him and then replied with,
“Hey.”
“So California huh?” He wrote.
“Yah how’d you know?”
“Small school, news travels fast.”
“Oh yah, well we should probably pay attention.”
“Nah, paying attention is for people who care.” Just then I laughed a little.
“Is something funny Miss Peirce?” snapped Mrs. Stat
“No!” Jessie and I yelled in surprise as he slammed his notebook closed.
“Well you two seem to not care so how about you go not care somewhere else. Detention!” Said Miss Stat as she handed us slips to the principal’s office.
At the end of the day I walked to the detention room a.k.a the advanced calculous room. Once I walk in, I realize I’m the only one there and check the slip of paper.DETENTION
ROOM 244
TEACHER: Mrs. Stat
Yep this is right. I plopped my stuff down on a desk and sat down. After a couple of minutes the door swung open and Jessie came in. He sat down next to me and stared at the little, white detention slip.
After he came in the calculus teacher came in and introduced herself as Miss. Dare.
“Now today’s your first day isn’t it Miss … Ireland.” She said looking down at a clipboard.
“Yep.” I said with a sigh
“Well welcome to Liberty View,” she said with a perky smile. “Now no talking, no phones, and no sleeping.”
Once I got home I shut the door quietly and went up the stairs trying not to be seen.
“Ireland!” I stopped going up the stairs and walked back down. “Where have you been?” Asked my mom.
“I uh, might have gotten a detention.”
“Ireland Rose Peirce!” Oh god, she used my full name.
“Well I was writing down notes and she gave me detention for asking the person next to me what she just said.” Okay I know I lied but what was I supposed to say ‘Oh I wasn’t paying attention cause I was talking to some guy.’ I mean they are already on my back and the last thing I need is them finding that out.
“What that’s stupid. I’m calling the school.” She said as she headed for the phone.
“No!” she stopped. “Its okay mom, its fine you don’t have to do that.”
“Why not?” she asked
“If it happens again you can call but it was only once.” I begged
“Okay… only if you’re sure.” She said as she put down the phone.
“Yes, I’m quite sure.” I said
“Okay.” She said as she headed back to the study. That was close.
