I was woke up by an alarm. I sat up quick and looked at Maddie. She didn’t take any worry from it so I figured it’s the wake up alarm. I opened up the locker and saw that our training outfits were black jump suits, a white t-shirt and combat boots. I put it on and slipped my hair into a ponytail.
“Black!” exclaimed Santana. “How can this be legal!” she said pulling it out to take a better look at it. I laughed and we headed to the dining hall.
“Well why you look lovely today.” Said Troy making a sarcastic comment.
“Ha, Ha very funny.” I said
“I know, it just comes naturally really.” He said. I punch him in the shoulder.
“Dork.”
After breakfast we were told to go to the practice arena. Once we got there a tall, muscular man stood there and waited for everyone to file in.
“Hello and welcome to Supers 101. I am Major Sims your teacher and trainer. My job is to both teach and train you so that all of you are ready for the tests. There are 3 tests giving us three days of training for each test and then one final initiation at the end of the two weeks. The three tests are Self Defense, Artillery, and Power Training. Any questions?” He paused a moment. “Good let us begin. Everyone go to a punching bag.” Everyone went to a punching bag. “Now, I am going to show all of you a move and when I say go you do what I did got it?” everyone nodded. He stepped up to a punching bag and did a demonstration.
“Go!” he said and everyone did the routine of punches and kicks.
“Good Peirce number one.” He said to Troy. “Straighten up Stone, there you go. Great Kelly, good job Waters.” He coached. We did a couple more routines and my knuckles are starting to ache.
“Great okay so I want all of you to split into groups of four and one group of two. We divided up grouping together me, Jessie, Troy, and Maddie. “I am going to do a demonstration just like the last but instead we will be using artillery.” He said picking up a gun. “I want all of you to go grab a gun and a belt, after you have done so comeback and line up at a target in your same groups.” We did what we were told and went and lined up at the target. Everyone took turns shooting at the red circles painted onto a canvas. When it got to Troy he held the gun up to his eye, took a deep breath, and I pulled the trigger. ‘BANG’ the gun went off and it hit the center everyone starred in awe at my target even Major Sims. I can’t believe he just did that. I swear I’ve never seen him shoot a gun, ever.
“Have you ever shot before Troy?” asked Major Sims
“No, never.” He said
“It seems your natural self-defenses are coming in.”
“We have those?” He asked
“Well you wouldn’t be a super without them.” He said. “I want you to go over to those targets over there and I’ll be over in a minuet.” He said
“Okay.” He said as he walked over to the targets.
“Ireland,” said Major Sims “Why don’t you take a shot?”
“Okay.” I said. I aimed at the target and pulled the trigger. The bullet ended up hitting just inside the second ring.
“Never mind,” said Major Sims with a look of confusion on his face. “Anyways keep going.” He walked over to Troy.
“See if you can do that.” He said. Those of us that weren’t shooting looked back. He went to the side and he ran, rolled, and shot three times. We all walked up to the targets.
“Guess which ones are yours.” Said Major Sims starring at the gargets as if they had grown horns. Troy pointed to the ones farthest from the middle.
“Nope.” He said “Those are mine.”
“Wait so that would mean I shot these.” He said pointing to the three holes that were in the middle spots.
“Yep.”
“Wow.” I said.
“Okay now I want all of you to get into the same line,” said Major Sims shocked at our sudden arrival.
“Huh, anyway it is time to go onto power training.” He said. “What is the first thing most people need to survive?” Said Major Sims. Noah Booth raised his hand.
“Uh water.”
“Yes good. I want everyone to get in a line standing side by side and hold out your hands.” We did so and he walked down the row looking at everyone’s hands. “Ireland I want you to close your eyes and focus on your hands.
“Uh, okay.” I held out my hands and focused. Soon my hands were wet so I opened my eyes to find that everyone had moved away from me. I looked at my hands and it was probably because a ball of water was sitting in my hands.
“Cool.” I said amazed at how I could do that.
“Now, Jessie hold out your hands and focus while Ireland drops the water into your hands.”
“Okay.” He said as he held out his hands. I dumped the water into his hands and it turned to ice. He gasped and it turned to water again.
“You lost focus,” he said. “Ireland make another one, Jessie try again and use it as a weapon on this.” He said as he pulled out a practice dummy.
“K.” I said. I made another ball of water and put it into Jessie’s hands. He took it and made it into a spear. It was pretty cool to watch. He then backed up and threw the spear at the dummy, making the icy spear go through it completely.
“Very good, that is supposed to teach all of you teamwork through using your powers. Maddie, you can levitate in animate and inanimate objects right?”
“Correct.” Answered Maddie.
“Then I would like you to move these mats over to the other side of the arena.”
“Sure.” She said as she hopped off of a pile the mats that she was sitting on. As if she had down this a thousand times she put out a hand and moved the mats like it was no big deal.
“Now Brandon,” Said Major Sims as he held up a match. “Light it.”
“Uh, with what?” asked Troy
“Why your finger of course.” He said. Troy concentrated and nothing happened. He tried again and yet nothing happened. “Well I guess some people need a little more time.” Said Major Sims. Some people snickered.
“There will be no making fun of anyone in this building you hear me?” Said Major Sims.
“Yes sir.” Said Troy. Everyone laughed
“Dude.” Said Jessie as he punched Troy in the arm.
Although the day ended in potential scars and busted knuckles, we learned a lot. Such as Kate could make plants grow, Emily could turn invisible, and Santana could fly. For the boys Noah Booth could make a force field, Brandon Frat could run really fast, and last but not least Drew Smith had super strength.
