Edmund had been led into the dungeons after the Witch had sent the wolves after his siblings. The dwarf had led him down at knife-point and left him with rock-solid bread and frozen water. The numbing metal chains he had been forced into bit Edmund's hands and feet leaving them raw red. He shivered as he tried to huddle close to the icy walls of the Witch's palace. His stomach growled and he glanced over helplessly to the solid bread. He decided that bread no matter how frozen would be better than starving at this point.
He picked up the frozen morsel of food with shaking hands and tried to bite into the inedible substance. He bit off a small chunk which slid down his throat like a spiky ball of ice, he coughed at the painful feeling and spat it out. He grabbed the water in hopes to quench his thirst but no water had melted, it was truly frozen. Angry at being fooled, and mostly at himself he threw the cup back on the tray in dismay.
"Are you going eat that?" someone voiced in the prison next to him, for a moment he recoiled before inching closer. A faun with a red scarf was huddled near the opening of ice between the two prison cells. Edmund reached out for the stale bread before throwing it slightly so it could reach the faun. Edmund stared at the faun a bit longer as he ate until he dared to ask.
"Mr Tumnus?" Edmund asked him softly. The Faun paused his eating to look at the boy, recognition dawned on his face.
"Your Lucy Pevensie's brother" he stated gazing at the boy in disbelief.
"I'm Edmund" he clarified not knowing if Lucy had spoken of him or Peter to the faun.
"You have the same nose." Mr Tumnus muttered and Edmund rubbed his nose subconsciously at his words.
"Is your sister alright?" Mr Tumnus asked. Edmund looked to the floor in shame. "Is she safe?"
"I don't know" Edmund replied and suddenly the prison doors flung open. They rushed back to their places as the Queen stalked into the room.
"My wolves tore that dam apart, your little family was nowhere to be found." She began forward and yanked Edmund up by his shirt.
"Where are they?" She yelled as he whimpered in fear.
"I don't know," he told her trying to find ground to stand on.
"Then you are no longer any use to me, Guard" she called out as she turned away dropping him from her grasp.
Edmund in his state of panic cried out. "Wait they said something about Aslan"
"Aslan!" She spun on her heel, "Where?"
"The stranger has only been in Narnia a short-" Mr Tumnus began but was cut off with a strike to his head.
"I left before I could hear any more" Edmund replies, "I wanted to see you again."
"Guard!" She yelled turning to the entrance.
"Release the Faun" the guard hit the icy chains with his clubs and Mr Tumnus cried out in pain as he was dropped by the Witch
"Do you know why you are here?" She asked him cruelly.
"Because I believe in a free Narnia" Tumnus replied bravely.
The Witch gave him a cold glare.
"You're here because he" she turned to point at Edmund.
"turned you in... for sweeties."
She smirked before looking back at Tumnus.
"Take him upstairs and ready my sleigh"
