Katherine was woken up in the middle of the night to Lucy yelling across the hall. Susan and she shared a look before putting on their dressing gowns to see what the commotion was.

They walked into the boys' room to hear Lucy going on about Narnia again. Peter groaned as he sat up and Susan tried to calm the girl down trying to convince her it must have been a dream.

Katherine rubbed her eyes and tried not to yawn. Peter looked over groggily and a small smile graced his face as he looked at her bed hair.

It stuck up a bit in places and she smiled back sleepily. Lucy continued adamantly stating that she had seen Mr Tumnus again and she went on to say Edmund had gone with her this time.

The older children looked up in shock at this and turned to Edmund for an explanation.

Once it became obvious that he wasn't going to reply Peter asked him if he had seen the faun. Before Edmund could answer for himself Lucy replied.

"Well he didn't actually go there with me"

Lucy confessed and a confused expression appeared on her face as she turned to him,

"What were you doing Edmund?"

Katherine noticed how uncomfortable Edmund looked and wondered if there was more that had happened then he was letting on.

Susan looked at Edmund expectantly.

"Well I was just playing along" he began.

Katherine wasn't too sure how much truth he was speaking, Lucy looked around confused at Edmund's statement.

"I'm sorry Peter, I shouldn't have encouraged her, but you know what little children are like these days. They just don't know when to stop pretending"

Katherine physically recoiled at Edmund's bitter twisted words. He showed no remorse and instead smirked as Lucy began to sob.

"I cannot believe you, Ed"

Katherine scolded and for a second he looked truly sorry for disappointing her.

Lucy ran out of the room and Katherine quickly followed. She could hear Susan and Peter's footsteps behind her but her only focus was on the girl in front.

She tried to call out to her but it was in vain. She watched in horror as Lucy bumped into the man in the hall which Katherine could only assume was the Professor.

Lucy looked up and in one big sob hugged tightly onto the man. Katherine's heart broke again for the little girl and reached out to try and pry her off from him.

She heard Susan and Peter footsteps stop behind her and Mrs Macready came out from the hall.

"You children are one shenanigan shy from sleeping in the stables" she muttered adjusting her dressing gown before looking up to see the professor.

"Professor. I'm sorry. I told them you were not to be disturbed."

The professor, however, didn't look troubled at all as he replied, "It's alright Mrs Macready, I am sure there is a reasonable explanation, but first of all I think this one is in need of a bit of hot chocolate"
