*This is my work!! It was an idea I had for an RP but I don't think I ever used it. Even though it is not a formal book, it's still my original idea. If you want to use the idea and turn it into a fully-fledged book, you can as long as you give me credit. I'm not sure why you would want to use my story anyway but I'm just putting that out there. Anyway, this "little" disclaimer turned into a paragraph soo... I better just get on with it.

"Max, hurry up!" Violet called from the front door. She was meeting her friend Gina to do a mermaid spell at the beach. Both their patents allowed them as long as Violet's older brother, Max went with them.

At the beach, the girls gathered their ingredients and started to cast the spell. "SO MOTE IT BE!!" they finished, excited to become mermaids.

The next day, Violet went over to Gina's house to go swimming. "Guess what violet? I got a side effect!"

"Eee! I'm so excited for you!!" Violet said as they waded into the pool. Once she started swimming, she noticed a tingling feeling in her legs. At first she brushed it off but the feeling grew stronger. "Hey Gina, do you feel that tingling?"

"What tingling?" Gina asked, confused. Oh she must have gotten a side effect. No way she can become a mermaid! I deserve it more than her! "Oh there it is" she lied

"Wow! It's like we're destined to become mermaids!"

"Mhm" I am, not you. You think you're so special but we'll see about that.

"Hiii!" Gina said waving to Violet and M ae who were already in the food court. "Okay, look" Gina said, rolling down her knee-high socks. There it was, a scale mark, faint but looked real enough.

It was Friday and the girls had planned to meet on the beach at 3 PM. Mae was swimming around with her maroon and purple tail in the water, waiting for the other two.  Splashing into the water, Gina and Violet waited ten seconds for results.  Looking down, Violet saw a violet and silver tail swishing beneath her. Expectantly, Gina looked at her tail hoping for green and gold- nothing. "Ha! I knew it!" Mae yelled, black and blue mist swirling around her. "I never trusted you, I foresaw what trouble you would cause if you became one of us so I begged the mer gods to stop your transformation. The lies, the hate, the longing. Saying how much you deserved it, well you don't." After the mist cleared, Mae's true form was revealed, a Seer Siren. Her tail disappeared and she now wore a flowing purple and maroon dress, and her black hair was now streaked with dark grey. Blood red wings sprouted from her back and a silver circle crown was placed on her head by an invisible force. Mae held a crystal ball and announced "I am Maedlea, the misty seer goddess of revenge. By joining the powers of air and sea, I commend you to a punishment where every time you tell the truth, you will gain a feather, slowly turning you into a chicken, for that is who you truly are. It will hurt to have to lie to everyone you love even about simple things like what you want to watch on TV to greater things like lying about your name. People will turn on you for your untruth, making you sorry for lying in the past and being selfish. The curse will only truly disappear when I see you as a mermaid and not a chicken in the future. It's up to you and the choices you make to decide your fate."

Ugh, that's the end of the short story. I don't exactly know where I was going with that but ehh. I can't think straight, it's late here and I have a lot on my mind. I'm letting you guys vote on whether she ends up as a chicken or a mermaid and the one with the most replies will decide Gina's fate.
