When I wake up in the morning and see my brown skin I smile from ear to ear
When my mother wakes up in the morning and sees my brown skin
She tries not to shed a tear
Cause she knows the truth
She knows that when your eyes lay sight on my brown skin
It might bring out your anger from within
It might cause you to make a "mistake"
It might turn into a cold case
Seeing my skin might make your trigger finger itch
For no logical reason
These killings of my brown and black brothers and sisters have no meaning
Actually , they do
We all know the truth
In your eyes the tint in my skin is a threat
Yes a threat
A threat to the national security of this country that was built on brown and black backs
A country that views the killing of a animal in a higher light than they view paid public servants taking innocent black lives
In your eyes i'm like a insect that needs to be exterminated
In your eyes my skin is that thing about me that fills your heart with hatred
Because
You know your skin is the reason my family would lose the trial
In your eyes you can't handle the fact that my skin lightens a dark room full of hopeless souls
In your eyes law is something that only applies to Caucasians
Because people like me are only good at committing crimes
In your eyes you already decided how this story was gonna end
When i see my brown skin i see hope everyday and new chances at life
But when you see my skin , all you see is death
And
Thats
On sight.
