MADISON

I brought our snacks inside because the mosquitos would have prevented us from sleeping outside.

I'd left Alan at the pool about ten minutes ago. He still hadn't come back. I also brought the MacBook which showed that the moon was going to set in less than two minutes.

As I was placing the snacks on his bed I heard footsteps behind me.

I turned around. It was Alan and he was completely dry in the same sweatpants he jumped into the pool with.

"How come you're so dry?" I asked out of curiosity.

"I-i- uh." He choked on his words. He looked dizzy and disoriented. He blinked a couple of times.

"Alan, are you okay?" I started walking towards him.

"I feel a bit woozy." He scratched his head in confusion.

"Do you need to sit down?" I asked.

It seemed like he didn't hear me and he stumbled forward.

"Alan!" I screamed as I watched him collapse face down onto his bedroom floor.

I was quick to kneel down next to his head and check if he was still awake. His eyes were closed but he was still breathing. That was a good sign. This couldn't have been a seizure or dehydration because his eyes hadn't rolled to the back of his head.

Maybe it was exaustion or he'd blacked out drunk. I think the drunk explanation was the most viable.

"Alan." I whispered into his ear.

No response just the soft sound of breathing.

How could I lift him up from the floor? I could only imagine what he weighed with the toned body he had.

I tried to pull him up onto his bed but that was a much harder task than I'd anticipated. His body felt heavy and limp as I tried to lift him.

I came up with a better idea and dragged the mattress from the bed on the balcony into Alan's room. I set it a few inches away from his body. Thank goodness Alan had enough floor space to fit the mattress in his bedroom.

I grabbed his feet and slowly dragged him onto the mattress, huffing and puffing all the while.

"You better thank me for this when you wake up." I told his unconscious head of blonde hair.

When he was finally on the bed I shrugged a blanket over his shoulders and kissed him goodnight.

I really hoped he was blacked out drunk rather than all the other scenarios I'd made up in my head.

Whatever came over him tonight had serious side effects.

Maybe it was the Doritos, maybe they were expired because I hadn't seen him drink anything the whole day. He started acting wierd when we started staring a the moon, like it had hypnotized him.

It was like he was in some sort of a spell. I also wondered what full body dryer he walked through to come back so dry. In under ten minutes of him being in water. His scalp and hair were completely dry.

Maybe was just overthinking everything and he'd have a perfectly good explanation for me the next day.

With much reluctance I left his bedroom but kept the door ajar and kept my bedroom door ajar as well. Just in case.

With the thought of the nights occurences and Alan's strange behaviour I fell into a fitful sleep.
