The morning alarm came far faster than Calum had hoped it would. He blinked open his eyes, rubbing away the crud that had developed overnight before reaching over to silence the annoying beep that blared from his phone.

With the incessant noise ended he rolled off the bed and headed for the bathroom. He brushed his teeth and washed his face automatically, his mind still struggling to wake up and his thoughts still clouded with sleep.

He dressed himself blindly, grabbing a black t-shirt and throwing it over his head, sliding his arms through the holes before stepping into a pair of plaid flare pants.

When he was dressed he grabbed his backpack, filling it with any and everything he could think of that he'd need for the day along with a water from the mini fridge before heading downstairs to meet the rest of his band.

"Shit, we're a motley crew aren't we." He said when he saw the state of his friends, all of them looking equally as exhausted as he knew he must.

"First day is always exhausting. Supposedly we're doing our walk through with the crew, a few practice go's, and then we have the afternoon off. I dunno." Luke said, a subtle shake of his head as he finished his sentence.

Michael was practically asleep standing up and Ashton seemed to have a cloud hanging over him. God, they were a sore sight indeed. They had to get their shit together, the first show of tour was only a day away.

They crammed into a van, Calum taking a back seat, Ashton slumping against the window across from him while Michael and Luke took the front row.

"Sleep help anything?" Calum asked his friend quietly, not wanting the others to overhear as he wasn't sure what Ash had and had not told them.

"Not really. I did what you said though, took our pictures down and stuff? I had to delete the apps off my phone though, our fans caught on fast. I hope they aren't taking it out on her." He said softly, his lip pulled back between his teeth.

"I know it sucks right now, mate, but you gotta get your mind off it until we're done for the day. Let yourself get distracted. The first times the hardest but then it'll get easier and I've already told you I really don't see this lasting long between you too."

"I hope you're right." His friend replied.

"You guys fancy a coffee?" Luke asked, turning his head so that he could see both Ash and Cal.

Ashton only quirked his head to the side to silently ask if Luke was seriously awaiting a response from him on that particular question while Calum nodded.

Luke leaned forward and asked the driver to find them a coffee shop and Calum took  the opportunity to pull out his phone and send a quick text to Holland.

Hi! I know it's early there, I'm not sure if you're up yet but I know you had practice this morning. I hope it and your math session later go great. We're gonna rehearse all morning and hopefully have the afternoon off, maybe we could skype or something later? Have a great day, Holls! xx

"You texting Holland?" Michael asked, a small smirk on his face as he studied Calum.

"Maybe."

"You've got it so bad, dude."

"I do not." Calum said defensively.

"You do, and that's not a bad thing. Just admit it."

Calum sighed and turned his head to look out the window. He knew his friend was right and he wasn't at all embarrassed by the fact that he was already completely gone for the beautiful blonde back home. He was however dreading the length of time that stood between now and the next time he knew he would get to see her. If he was going to miss her this much while he was gone he had to work something out to see her before November. Being away from her for that long seemed, just unfathomable.
