Calum stared blankly at the crumpled heap that was his ex girlfriend on the mat for less than a moment before he began to move. He could hear her parents and brother close behind him but they were muffled by the sound of everyone else in the arena who still stood in shock.

He had to get to her. He didn't know what he could do but his body moved towards her anyways, desperate to have her close and to be assured that she would be okay.

"Calum! Calum!" He was shaken out of his daze by a pair of hand on his biceps and a female voice that after a moment he registered was Lexi, who stood right in front of him. "The medic is gonna get her. They'll take her to UCLA-Med just get there before the traffic out of here gets bad! Go!"

His face scrunched in confusion, his brain struggling to comprehend what she had said to him. When her words finally registered his eyes widened and he nodded. Stumbling backwards a few steps before taking off at a sprint towards his SUV, screaming at his gps to give him the fastest way to the hospital.

He was sure he broke nearly every road law that existed in the five minute drive from the Pauley arena to the entrance of the UCLA Medical Center emergency room but he could not care less.

He waited near the entrance until the ambulance arrived along with Holland's family. He was hesitant to rush them but he was desperate to know if she was okay. His worries were nullified when her Dad caught his eye and waved him forward.

"What have they said?" Calum asked as they were led to a waiting room as Holland was wheeled away from them on the stretcher.

"Not much. They said they think it was a combo of stress and dehydration but we'll know more soon." Amy said, placing her hand softly on his arm.

The wallpaper that coated the walls of the waiting room was outdated and dingy, only helping to add to the somber mood as Calum moved from the uncomfortable plastic chair, to pacing a path through the waiting room and back again.

He needed answers. It was a thought that seemed to be shared by her family and teammates who had gathered to fill the waiting room. A room full of people who adored Holland and needed to know she was going to be okay.

Every second that ticked off the obnoxiously loud clock on the wall seemed to last hours, a somber silence drifted through the room and it was maddening. Calum wasn't sure how much longer he could take the wondering.

He was relieved when finally the doctor burst through the swinging doors and asked to speak with Holland's family. It took every thing in him to remain seated while her parents spoke to him and to not immediately hound them once they returned back to their seats.

"She's dehydrated, exhausted, and malnourished. He said they've got her stabilized with fluids and they're letting her rest. She should be fine but they're gonna keep her overnight. They've said no visitors for the night but I'm sure she'd love to see all of you when she comes by the dorms to pack up for the holidays tomorrow." They said to the gathered assembly.

Calum felt his lungs deflate at the thought of having to wait until the morning to see her. He just needed to see her for himself so he would know she was okay. The lasting image of her falling unconscious on the mat was engrained in his brain and replaying like a bad movie on repeat.

"Calum?" It was Amy who called his name and freed him from this thoughts.

"Uh, yeah?"

"You can stay if you'd like."

"Oh, um, are you sure? I don't want to impose." He stumbled over his words wanting to be polite but also wanting more than anything to be near to Holland.
