Lauren's POV:
Today was the day. We had been practicing nonstop for a day and half for our first official appearance as a group since everything happened. Camila has been progressively better since she ran off on us the other day, but she is still a bit distant, which is explainable after everything. The girls and I were worried but we knew not to push her, Sinu told us she would get better in time. That we all would.
We were currently in the van on our way to the venue for the charity event Janelle set us up for. I could tell that Camila was a little bit more anxious than usual by the way she was tapping her leg up and down and biting her nails. We were all nervous but I think the fact that the media were going to around made Camila a little bit more nervous.
"Girl, you're giving me a headache with all the bouncing," Dinah complained, grabbing onto Camila's thigh to stop her jittering.
"Sorry," Camila muttered as she tried to think of another way to distract her nerves.
"Here, you could use this," I told her as I passed down my headphones.
She thanked me and soon fell into her own little world as she huddled into herself in the van. The girls sending me a thankful smile and turning their attention back to what they were doing. Before we knew it, we were at the venue.
We had to come early at the venue to do sound check and practice our new choreography so that meant there weren't going to be media coverage for awhile. Unfortunately, fans always came early in hopes to meet their favorite artist or actors and our harmonizers always on point.
As the girls and I headed towards our fan, I saw Camila making a beeline for the entrance with her head low and my headphones still distracting her from reality. I sighed and turned back towards our fans, trying my best to put on a smile for them. Don't get me wrong, I was happy to see them, but with everything going on we were all still a little distracted.
After a good ten minutes with our fans, catching up with them, posing with them, and genuinely laughing with them, we got pulled away to our dressing room where we found Camila laying on the couch and Sinu silently reading her book. I walked over to Camila and placed a gift that one of the harmonizers had for her on her stomach. It was a little giraffe with its tongue sticking out. She looked at it with sadness in her eyes, knowing that she didn't receive it personally from the fan.
"You know, they're not mad at you. They understand," I tried to put her at ease.
Before she could say anything, one of the stage managers came in to tell us that we were set for sound check so we all made our way to the hall where we would be performing.
"Holy chizz! This place is amazing!" Dinah hollered while we all took in the grand hall of one of the Chapman hotels. Probably one of their biggest.
The hall was all decorated with extravagant lights and decorative ornaments falling from the ceiling. Two set of drinking bars were on either side of the hall and various tables were all set around the dance floor. The stage was just as big with a full orchestra set for when the performers weren't on stage and a podium on the side for announcements and speeches.
