AUSTIN DANIELS

"Why the fuck are you so mad anyway?" I questioned Matthew, angrily. We were still standing outside of the pack house, but Ashley had gone inside to pee.

"Ashley's first born child was suppose to be mine," he answered.

I gave him a bewildered look. "That's sick."

"I don't mean like that. I mean she was suppose get impregnated by another werewolf and give the child to me," he explained, but I couldn't quite grasp why he would want her to do that.

"Why?"

"Not that it's any of your businesses, but I'm unable to have children, and her child would be the closest thing to a real one for me."

"Oh," I said, a bit shocked. A sterile werewolf? I didn't think that was possible.

"How did that happen? If you don't mind me asking," I wondered, realizing that this was the most civil conversation Matthew and I had ever had.

"Remember that car accident that I lost my mate in a couple of years ago? Well I got injured pretty badly too, and it turns out I can't have kids anymore."

"Oh that sucks," I responded, not really knowing what else I could say. This was the guy who had been trying to steal my mate, and yet I kind of felt sorry for him.

"Matthew!" Ashley yelled frantically as she opened the pack house door. I turned around to find that her lower half was dripping wet. Had she peed herself?

"Shit," Matthew cursed, quickly making his way over to her. "It looks like your water broke."

"What?" I exclaimed as Matthew helped Ashley to the car.

"You coming? You're about to be a father."

I thought I was going to faint. Was this really happening?

"How am I sure it's mine?" I questioned making my way over to the car.

"He's yours!" Ashley shouted, in between groans of pain. "Because contrary to popular belief, I don't fuck every guy I see!"

I got in the car, figuring if the child was mine, I didn't want to miss his birth, and if he wasn't, then I'm sure I'd be able to tell when I saw him.

•••

After a surprisingly quick (at least that's what they told me, it had seemed like a long time to me) labor of eight hours, Ashley gave birth to healthy baby boy. Eight pounds, seven ounces and twenty-one inches long.

I had little doubt that the child was mine, if the dark hair that sat atop his head, and the little birthmark on his leg that was identical to mine, were anything to go by; but I was still demanding a paternity test as soon as possible.

"What do you want to call him?" Ashley wondered, sweaty and very tired looking.

I furrowed my brows, I honestly had no idea, I'd always wanted my first born son's name to be Chase, but I'd always imagined that I'd be having that child with Sophie and she'd agreed on it. I couldn't use our name.

"Do you have anything in mind?" I asked her, as she looked down at the newborn, who was peacefully sleeping in her arms.

"What do you think about Trent? It's the name of the main character in my favorite book," she told me, and I surprising really liked the name.

"Okay let's name him Trent," I said, smiling down at him.

"What's your middle name?"

"Elliott."

"So his name will be Trent Elliott Daniels. I like it," she said smiling.

And at that moment, I saw Ashley in a different light. For just one second she wasn't the evil bitch who'd drugged me and ruined my life, she was a lost girl who didn't have cruel intentions, but had accidentally gotten all of us into this gigantic mess.

[A/N: Austin still isn't very fond of Ashley, but she is the mother of his son, so he's seeing her in a new light. What do you think? Let me know! Over 67k reads! That's crazy, thank you soooo much!]
