Mother's Secret ( Part 15 )

I saw a nurse walking towards me.

She mouthed, "You may enter now."

I quickly stood up & rushed to the room where they placed Haechan.

I saw him & felt my heart aching. I sat on a chair & went near him. I placed my hand on his & cried.

"I'm sorry...", was all I could say.

I didn't even knew whose fault is it.

I placed my head on his bed & continued to cry. I didn't wanted him to leave me yet.

"Please wake up...", I whispered.

I stayed with him & saw the morning coming. I didn't leave the hospital. I waited for hours & hours for him.

I heard the door open. I turned to the door & saw my parents. They sat down quietly & I turned back to Haechan.

I just stared at him & his eyes slowly starts to move. My eyes widen & I quickly sat up straight.

"Haechan?", I asked him.

He made eye contact with me & smiled. I felt so happy. I hugged him tightly & cried.

"Don't be a crybaby now~", he said as he rubbed my back, comforting me.

"You should've told me you were sleepy.", I said softly.

"Sorry..", he mumbled.

I sat up straight & wiped my tears away. I sighed & we heard a knock on the door.

The door opened & it was some police officer. Mother & Dad walked outside & talked with them.

"They probably found out I don't have a license.", Haechan said as he hissed.

"We're still underage though.", I said.

After a while, Mother & Dad came back.

"What happened?", Haechan asked.

"Well, they said that you were driving without any license & they would have to fee us, but don't worry. We already paid the fee.", Dad said smiling.

I knew Haechan must be embarrassed already.

"How can I repay you..?", Haechan asked.

"Well...", Dad looked at Mother as if they didn't wanted to tell him because I was here.

"I'll just.. go to the bathroom.", I said as I left the room.

I slowly closed the door & pretened I walked away. I quietly leaned on the door & started listening to their conversation.

"Well, I was diagnosed with a deadly sickness... I have months left until I expire. Please, just take care of our Y/n after I'm gone.", I heard Mother say.

I bit my lip & cried.

"Is that so..?", Haechan asked.

"Please... just tell us now if you need anything else for us to repay you for taking care of Y/n.", Dad said.

I tried to cry silently as I could. My hands became fists.

Why didn't I knew about it?

I sighed heavily & they continued talking.

"No need to... You don't need to repay me... Well, I love her... so much and, I will take care of her whether you're still here or not. I'll be with her forever, I promise.", Haechan said.

Tears ran down my cheeks. I want to say so many things to them.

Why didn't they told me?

I leaned on the door & cried.

"Thank you so much...", I heard my parents say.

I quickly went to the bathroom & washed my face. I wiped my tears away with some tissue. I looked at my face to see if I looked like I cried.

I breathed heavily for a few times & went back to the room. I slowly turned the knob & entered the room.

I smiled & waved at them, as if I didn't hear anything. I saw my parents wiping their tears off.

I sat beside Haechan & I smiled.

A few days passed, Haechan was completely fine now. We would do our usual routine like before.

Day by day, I was worried for Mother. I didn't knew when will she be leaving. I was so scared. I tried to spend as much time as I can with Mother before she leaves.

I talked with her as much as I could, shared everything with her. I wanted to do everything first before she leaves. I wanted to spend all of my time with her.
