Chapter 6

Surprised by the sound of the door you looked in the direction of the noise. You felt chills on the back of your neck, what if it was the demon again? You could never do the same trick twice. Your clenched your fists against the table.

A blue haired man appeared in the opening of the door. He had a surprised expression on his face, he didn't expect to find someone there for sure.

"Who are you??" you spoke before he could.

"I was about to ask you the same" he was looking at you suspiciously as he kept proceeding with his actions and entered in the house.
If he was a thief he wasn't acting normally, he should run outside or threatened you, you supposed the man was a friend of Gazef.

"I cannot let enter a stranger here, what's your name? Are you a friend of Gazef that I haven't heard of?" You were doing your 'I'm judging you and I hope you feel bad about it' look. Your hand were now cupping your cheek, you were no longer feeling stressed about this man. As long as it was human you could handle it.

"My name is Brain Unglaus, I'm not sure if 'friend' is the right word but Stronoff actually host me here."
You sighed, it seems like he can't stop helping people. You smiled, remembered the time when you were sitting at the same place but completely lost.

"... And you? Are you a friend or...? "
Ah yes, you needed to introduce yourself too! You almost forgot.

"Oh I'm actually a-"

"Unglaus! You're here too!"
You heard a casual voice from outside, Gazef showed up pretty quickly!

"Maybe she didn't had the time or the reflex to introduce herself!"
You gave the big guy an upset look at his comment, making him laugh.
"Her name is (Y/N)! She's my sister!"

Where did this stupid fact actually came from...? Maybe a monster from the night brainwashed him? No, he actually might have a good reason for saying that...

"And (Y/N), here's Brain Unglaus! He's-"

"A friend of yours, yes he had already introduced himself"
Gazef looked surprised at your comment while Brain started to protest.

"Wait, that's not what I -" but he inturpted himself as the brown haired guy was looking at him with a proud smile, obviously flattered by the fact Unglaus called him 'a friend'. Brain pouted as you contained a laugh, amused by his embarrassed face.

The three of you sat at the table, Gazef gave you a healing potion. The two men talked about what they saw this night, Gazef was really mad about the fact that they kidnapped a lot of people. Brain explained that he helped in a rescue mission, but after that he saw "her" again. He was shaking, but he had a victorious smile.
Intrigued, you decided to ask.

"Who are you talking about? If it isn't too intrusive to ask?" He looked at you, his hands still shaking as he tried to make them stop.

"A woman...Actually a vampire, I meet her a while ago, she was very powerful, I can not even say how much..." you listened carefully, you weren't the only one who had an encounter with an overpowered person this night, these two could be related.
"At that time, I couldn't even scratch her. But this last night... I actually cuted her nail!"
You stayed silent... You understood it was really a big step forward for him. But it was really difficult to understand how much...

Gazef broke the silence. "I'm happy for you Unglaus! It seems you have done progress recently!"you could see that your friend mean it.

You decided to not speak about your encounter with the demon. But you learned from those two that his name was Jaldabaoth and he was the responsible of all this mess. A new adamantite adventurer had been the only one capable to stand up to him. His name was Momon, you memorized all these names in the contingency you needed them.

As the discussions finished, it was already the early evening, you were more exhausted than ever and you wanted to go home but...
You remembered...

"Urgh my house is actually a mess because of the monsters... Don't you two know a place where I can sleep tonight?"

" I know a hostel that wasn't in the center of the attack, it should be open, but it's a bit expensive..." Brain spoked, he seems embarrassed because he was taking the only bed here who could receive you.

Gazef took a paper. He started writing something on it, you and Brain could not help but noticed how much his writing was illegible.
"I wrote on this paper you are from my family and that I will pay soon for the time you will spend there!"

"Thanks you but you're not obligated to take care of me like this! I can search for another place to rest!"

"You need the money you still have to rebuild your place! Let me help you!" he smiled with pride again.
"You've been able to find an honest work, and visit me often since then, seeing you found a way to keep moving forward is the best reward I could hope!"
Hearing these words was truly heartwarming, he really felt like a big brother. Even after those years you were still so glad to meet him.
Brain seemed affected positively by hearing this conversation. You smiled at those two and accepted the offer of Gazef.

After you took some clothes in your dilapidated house, you headed to the hostel. You took a bedroom and let yourself fell in the huge bed.
It was finally time to have a good and peacefuly sleep.
