Team bonding

Today was Day 2 of my stay. I wasn't really sure what to do, until Ms Daisy appeared at my door.

"Hi Ms Daisy!" I beamed.

"Hey kid. You want to go on a mini tour?" She asked.

"Okay." I agreed, following Ms Daisy out.

When we reached the kitchen, I asked curiously, "Can I cook or bake if I wanted to?"

"You can cook and bake?" Ms Daisy seemed surprised.

I nodded. "Mr Steve and Uncle Bucky taught me. It's really fun!"

I was then led around most of the base. After that, Ms Daisy brought me to the main room, where the team was just chilling.

"The team wants to meet you. Properly."

"Hey kid." Mr Hunter grinned.

I smiled back and started greeting everyone, frowning when I didn't see Ms May.

"Where's Ms May?" I tilted my head.

"Uh, not really sure." Mr Coulson replied after much hesitation. "What do you like, Peter?"

"Oh! I really like science. I would help Mr Stark in the lab fixing his Iron Man suit as well as mine too! Which is so cool!" I broke out into a large smile. "And I, uh, was wondering if Ms Bobbi can teach me to fly a Quinjet?"

"Sure Bobbi can take a Quinjet and teach you." Mr Coulson agreed.

"Aunty Nat" I started.

"Hold up. You call Natasha Romanoff, Aunty Nat?" Mr Coulson interrupted, eyes widened in disbelief.

I nodded, before continuing, "Aunty Nat said that you guys have a lot of adventures. Can you tell them to me?"

They agreed, and I spent most of the morning just laughing around and talking.

Close to lunchtime, I excused myself to the kitchen, hoping to cook something that the team would like. Ms Daisy followed me, saying she would normally help with cooking and stuff.

"Huh, I would assume Ms May would help, considering she's like the mom here." I mused.

"May?" Ms Daisy burst out laughing. "May can't cook, Peter. She'll probably burn the kitchen down if we let her!"

I chuckled and we began to make something simple.

Halfway through, I asked Ms Daisy and question that was lingering in my mind.

"Ms Daisy? Before I left, Aunty Nat told me to keep clear of Ms May, and since I've been here, which isn't long, I feel like Ms May is ignoring me. I only saw her yesterday when I arrived, as well as during dinnertime. Did I do something wrong?"

"May... She has some bad memories of young children." Ms Daisy replied after a pause.

"I'm a teen."

"Well, you look pretty young and small for a teen. Just, let May be, until she gets used to your presence okay Peter?"

"Okay Ms Daisy." I agreed.

It was currently 7.30pm and I decided to head to the Hangar to looks for a specific someone. Figuring she would be in the Zephyr, a super cool looking jet, I stepped on board and headed towards the cockpit.

"Ms May?" I knocked softly. "It's me, Peter. Can I come in?"

No reply. I was about to leave when her voice echoed through the area I was in. "Okay."

I opened the door and pointed to the co-pilot seat. "Can I sit here?"

She nodded and asked, "Why are you here Peter?"

"Earlier today I asked Ms Daisy why you keep avoiding me. She didn't say that I did anything wrong to upset you, but did I really?"

Ms May didn't reply; she just stared ahead, but in the dim lights I saw a small tear slip out.

I immediately felt guilty. Clearly, it brought back bad memories. I quickly stood up, and started apologising. "I'm sorry for intruding and asking, Ms May. I'll leave now."

"You can stay. And... I'm sorry if I seemed cold. I don't trust myself around kids."

I was halfway out of the cockpit and I spun around in surprise. Ms May had turned and looked at me with a sad smile. "Why don't you sit here? I wasn't there this morning, you wanna tell me more about yourself?"

I nodded. It would be nice to get to know this awesome-but-hella-scary-looking super spy.

"Nat said your Aunt left for a holiday. What about your parents or anything?"

"I barely knew them. They died in an airplane when I was 4, and my uncle was shot in front of me 2 years ago."

"My condolences." Ms May said. "Shouldn't have asked."

I took a deep breath. "It's fine." I offered a smile. "Ms May, Aunty Nat said that you are good at fighting."

"One of the best SHIELD has. Why?"

"I would normally spar with Aunty Nat. But I understand if you don't want to, I can always ask Ms Bobbi or Ms Daisy-"

"It's fine, kid. I wouldn't mind training." Ms May offered a smile, which made her look really pretty.

Ms May and I continued to talk for a while before she said, "It's late kid. Why don't you go sleep?"

"At 9?" I raised an eyebrow. "Sure, Ms May! Goodnight!" I waved goodbye to her.

"Night kiddo. And drop the Ms yeah?" She called from behind me.

"Okay!" I agreed, cause even though I liked Ms May - it's probably just May now but it's weird because I also call my Aunt, 'May' - she can totally kick my ass.
