with quiet steps, you made your way down the creaky staircase of your home. any other morning, you probably would have jumped down the steps loudly enough to notify the neighbors you were awake. but today was different. it wasn't about waking up your parents-- no, they were on some romantic getaway to rekindle their relationship. it was about not waking up the boy in your bed. the boy, who had enhanced hearing.

you used your tiptoes as you scrambled throughout the couch, desperately searching for your phone, scared to make any noise. if you made a single sound, you were sure the sleeping chimera in your room would wake, and you'd be stuck.

repeatedly, you retraced your steps: the couch, the kitchen, the stairs. you even checked the coat rack next to the front door where you'd thrown your jacket-- but it seemed to have disappeared into thin air.

if you were ever able to find your phone-- and you weren't sure you ever would, at the point you were at --you hadn't planned out how you would explain the situation at hand, with your pride in tact.

how were you going to tell scott?

you scowled to yourself, mumbling as you tore pulled out the couch cushions. "oh, hey scott! you remember theo? yeah, i slept with him last night and he's still in my bedroom. i don't know what to do with him. do you have any ideas?"

after pulling the cushions off the couch, and revealing nothing, you dragged your hands down your face. you knew your time was running out, and you resisted the urge to let out a scream of frustration. theo was the bad guy, and on more than one occasion had screwed over you and your friends, you reminded yourself. and you had just slept with him. taking a deep breath, you continued your search.

you couldn't deny that the raeken was attractive, or the fact that you had been harboring a crush on him since he stepped foot in beacon hills. but after you figured out his plans with the chimera pack, you did your best to push your feelings aside. it didn't work.

while making your way towards the kitchen, you managed to hit your pinkie toe on the corner of the kitchen counter, and it hurt. you immediately lifted your foot up, cradling it. at first, you almost let out a groan, but quickly contained it as you shut your mouth, turning it into a strangled hum.

you held your breath, straining to try and hear any source of movement upstairs, or anywhere else around your house. there was nothing, and you let out a sigh of relief, setting your foot down again.

you opened up a junk drawer, quietly sifting through the random contents that you had stuffed in there not too long ago. there was no cellular device. you resisted the urge to slam it shut, and instead pushed it gently.

"looking for this?" a familiar voice spoke up from behind you. you jumped, placing a hand over your mouth.

turning around, you were greeted with theo raeken standing before you with a proud smirk. he held your phone in his hand tauntingly. he didn't have a shirt, but only black basketball shorts he had slipped on not too long ago.

frowning, you held your palm out flatly, beckoning him to set it in your hand. "give it back."

he raised his eyebrows, "why?"

"it's mine," you said, looking at him as if he was stupid.

"you seem to want it a lot–" theo stopped mid-sentence, seemingly almost impressed as he eyed your body up and down. "are you wearing my shirt?"

you looked down at your body, his shirt was one of the few things you were wearing, besides your bra and underwear. you huffed. reeling your hand back, you crossed your arms and looked up at him, "i needed something to wear, and i was a little eager to get the hell away from you."

he feigned hurt, placing a hand on his chest before slipping your phone into the pocket of his shorts. you watched it with a frown, but his smug expression hadn't faltered. "whatever you say, babygirl."

"give me. my phone."

"come and get it," he smirked.

you rolled your eyes and took a step forward, but he caught your wrist. he lightly pushed you back against the counter, with little effort. you made the same move, getting the same response.

you scoffed, dropping your arms at your sides. "this isn't fair. you're a chimera and my phone is in your pocket."

"well, last night you i don't remember you having trouble getting past my pockets."

it was in that moment that your phone started to ring, and your eyes widened, watching him reach into his pocket. you tried advancing towards him again, pushing his hand away, but it sprung back up and he held you at a distance.

theo looked at the caller id, and answered the phone with a smug grin. "hey, scott."

you closed your eyes tightly, hearing the werewolf's screeching response. he was full of anger and fear, his voice raising with each word. "theo? what the hell-- where's y/n? what did you do to her?"

"she's fine, scott, don't worry." the chimera smirked down at you. his forearm was steady as you tried to move against it to reach the phone he had in his hand. he simply lifted his arm up, letting you crash into his bare chest, before he clasped his arm down again, holding you securely.

"let me go, theo," you growled, writhing against his grip. you could feel the warmth of his body through the shirt.

he leaned down, the phone pushed down at his side momentarily as he purred in your ear, "you didn't mind this so much last night."

"let her go, theo!" scott yelled through the phone.

theo sighed, bringing the phone up again. scott took in a breath to say something, but theo ended the call, setting it down on the marble counter next to you. his hands moved down to your waist, still holding you.

"get off of me!" you growled.

he frowned, and reluctantly let you go, watching as you snatched your phone off the counter and took a few steps back.

"don't you think if i wanted you dead, i would have killed you already?"

"i think you're forgetting you gained our trust before screwing the pack over once before," you breathed, crossing your arms. "i know you like playing the long game, theo."

"i'm not going to hurt you," he said, the arrogant expression had dropped and was replaced with a caring one. he drew his eyebrows upwards and took a step closer to you. "i would never do that."

you stood tall, though not quite believing what he was saying, letting out a scoff in response.

another step. "i'm serious, y/n," his voice turned into a whisper as his hands slowly found your forearms, "and i don't think you want to see me hurt, either."

your mind raced as your eyes searched his. you were waiting for a twinge mischief to be found, as there normally was, you had come to learn. but there was nothing, only the utmost sincerity. you wanted to be angry, but you weren't.

he could sense your confusion. "i think you're forgetting i can hear your heartbeat."

you adjusted your jaw, watching the satisfaction rise beneath him. he knew he had gotten to you.

"y/n, i like you. i really do. even if your pack doesn't like me."

you pursed your lips, thinking for a moment. then, you looked down to the ground, whispering, "you should go, then. scott is going to be here any minute. i'll tell him it was a joke, or something. i'll figure it out."

theo smiled triumphantly, then kissing your cheek. his lips lingered by your ear. "i think i'll need my shirt if i want to leave quicker."

"yeah, well, i think you can go without it," you smiled sarcastically, pushing him towards the back door, "get out of my house, before my ass becomes absolute toast."

he smirked as he stood outside, yourself in the doorway, "i'll see you later, babygirl."

you hummed in response, shutting the door. then, you turned around and grabbed the nearest can of air freshener, getting ready to spray anything and everything in your household to mask the scent of the raeken boy from the alpha werewolf.
