Of course the next morning was super chaotic. Niall had overslept and Zayn had forgotten half of his stuff, Liam seemed to want to drown himself in the shower and took ages to get down to the lobby with them.
They had already checked out and were finally ready to leave when Louis noticed that he had left his cell phone in his room and it took them another 20 minutes to get in the car and drive to the airport.
"You're worse than a bag of fleas," Paul had shouted after them. Harry wanted to sit in the front seat but was pushed aside by Zayn and sat next to Liam who looked horrible and sent evil looks ahead as if Zayn had just dropped dead.
When they arrived at the airport they had hardly any time to check in thanks to their dawdling. One could have really thought that they were better organized by now and could handle such procedures in their sleep. Well. Luckily they flew in a private jet and didn't annoy other passengers with their dawdling.
Harry sat down with Zayn, who was listening to music through his headphones and didn't seem to notice him at all. Because of him. Harry had planned to ask Zayn what had happened yesterday with him and Liam, but he didn't have to fall in with the door. He passed the time until they started to talk to Niall, who was sitting in front of them, and gave Zayn a quick look every now and then. But he didn't want to join in their conversation at all. Fine, then don't. Sometimes they all behaved like divas here! Harry could really relate to Niall's outburst of anger yesterday. But in the meantime at least he seemed to have calmed down again.
When Niall disappeared in the toilet one day, Harry finally nudged Zayn. "Can we talk for a minute?" he asked when Zayn had taken his headphones out. Harry had rarely seen anyone who looked more depressed and sadder, perhaps apart from Louis yesterday, who still seemed to be hung up on their conversation from yesterday, but he tried not to let on. "Did you sleep at all last night? You have dark circles under your chin."
"I did, don't worry," Zayn yawned, pinched the bridge of his nose, blinked a couple of times. "What's up?" He certainly didn't. Instead, he stayed up all night smoking pot.
"What happened with you and Liam yesterday? "He just wanted to talk to you and you've been looking at each other
"Oh, Liam's just looking grumpy 'cause nobody here brings him booze," Zayn calmly said. "That's rubbish," Harry roared, pulled his brows together. That was quite an insinuation.
"Oh, yeah? Did you get a good look at his room or his minibar? It's been pretty empty lately." Harry glanced at Liam, who was talking to Louis and actually laughed. Was that true? Was Liam secretly drinking when he was alone in his room? But why? Didn't he have problems he didn't tell anyone about? Could that explain the constant party escalation? How could Harry not have known about this?! "Are you controlling him?"
"I just notice things and you can't deny that Liam's out of control right now, doing some very atypical Liam stuff. That's what I told him yesterday, but he wasn't cool with it. But I'll let him throw stuff at me."
"What did he say?" Harry felt a bit bad about them having a fight. At least he had encouraged Liam to talk to Zayn. "Accused me of pulling out and not putting myself out there and if I wanted to leave the band so badly, I should just do it, but without all the drama." Zayn shrugged off unmoved when he noticed Harry's startled look "It's... something's gotten out of hand between us. As always," he added, mumbling softly. "But... you... I thought you got along so well? I've never heard you fight before."
"Because we do it behind closed doors, not like others in this band."
Caught Harry blushing, but Zayn didn't mean nothing by it. He was just trying to embarrass him. "I'm really sorry."
