Chapter 8 (part 1)

Hi everyone, I'm planning to write this chapter in two different parts with this part focusing on a little bit of character development for my OC, which includes some information about how her mother died so if you're sensitive to that, please don't read it. The next part will include the fight between Rin and Amaimon at the amusement park.

The next morning I woke up and quickly got dressed into my True Cross Academy uniform that consisted of a pink skirt, white blouse and striped bow that would fasten around the collar of the blouse. The day was particularly humid so I decided not to tuck the blouse into the skirt as well as wearing thigh high socks instead of the tights I would usually wear. Yukio said we wouldn't be needing any of our usual equipment so as soon as I tied the laces of my boots up I left my dorm room to see if Izumo or Shiemi was downstairs so that we could walk to the amusement park together for our first mission an exwires.
I walked through the main hall of the dorm and spotted Shiemi nervously asking Izumo if she could show her how to wear the academy's uniform to which Izumo reluctantly agreed. I didn't really want to wait behind for them as I was anxious that I would be late to the meeting place at the amusement park so I quickly hurried out of the dorms and walked through the busy streets of the city. The city itself was dense and often difficult to navigate however the walk to the amusement park wasn't too far if you knew the quickest route to take like I do. I made it to the gates of the amusement park and looked up at the name written in huge letters 'MEPHY LAND' "of course he named it after himself" I sighed. As I walked through the park, I noticed that every aspect of this place was based on sir Pheles "is his ego really that big that the whole park is themed on him?" I sighed again. Yukio said the meeting place was at the central statue in the park so I headed in that direction and surprise, the statue was of Mephisto himself. I saw the boys from my class sat around the statue waiting for us to arrive so I assumed I was a little late "hey Yukio. Sorry I'm a little late"
"you're actually right on time Violet, we're just waiting for Miss Kamiki and Miss Moriyama now" Yukio said.

We soon saw Shiemi and Izumo running towards us, apologising to everyone that they were so late. Shiemi explained that she asked the director to issue her a uniform seen as kimonos weren't the best thing to wear on mission and that Izumo had been teaching her how to wear it. After the boys complimented Shiemi on how she looked in her uniform, Yukio spoke up "ok, now that you're all here let's get started. Now seen as there is an odd number in the class, you'll be teaming up in groups of two with one person being left on their own". I gulped slightly as the only people in the class I'd really spoken to were Rin and Shiemi but in the long run I knew that this would help me with my teamwork skills, though I could be the person who would be left on their own. Yukio started reading out the names on the pairs "Miwa and Takara, Yamada and Suguro, Kamiki and Shima, Okumura and Moriyama" I was surprised to see that my name hadn't been called out yet, I thought Rin would be the one who wouldn't have a partner; then again, it would be good to have someone watch out for him. "Miss Apocrypha, you'll be the one who is on their own for this mission" Yukio stated "why me?" I asked "you and the demon that possesses your weapon have a strong bond with each other so if anything goes wrong during the mission, I know it will protect you. If you think about it your partner for this mission is actually your demon" I nodded in response to Yukio's thorough answer.
"As you may already know, this is mephy land and the reason we're here is in response to reports regarding a mischievous ghost. Today you are going to be the ones to track it down. We've sealed off the park to the public so you have the whole day to track it down. Once you've found the ghost, contact either Mr Tsubaki or myself" Yukio explained
Mr Tsubaki then went onto asking us about what ghosts were but I admit I stopped listening at that point as I already knew the answer and was too excited about starting the mission.

Before long we had started the mission and all went looking for the ghost in separate sections of the park. I had the job of looking around the back section of the park, behind the huge rollercoaster. Honestly, I just kinda walked around and looked in different food stalls to see if it was hiding. "Hey Violet dear" a voice said and a black mist started appearing from the key around my neck, forming into a demonic shape, it was Fura-chan. "this mission is realllllyyy boring. Can't we do something fun like go on the rollercoaster or the carousel, or even have a go at some of the stall games?" Fura asked excitedly. "No Fura. This my first serious mission as exwires, we have to concentrate and be ready for if the ghost appears" I said in a serious tone. Fura sighed in response and frowned "as long as we get to kill some demons then that's good enough for me, I guess" he shrugged. "You do know you a demon, right? I don't think we're gonna kill it anyway Fura. We were told to call one of the instructors once we found it" I said, to which Fura gasped "Seriously?! That's no fun at all. Demons like me love destruction, so to me, killing other demons is a form of destruction" Fura explained. "well this time you just have to shut up and cope. Those are the orders we've received". Fura scoffed "since when did you start taking orders from members of the Vatican? You hate them don't you~? after all they're the ones who sent your mother on the mission that cost her her life". I clenched my fists, my nails almost drawing blood from my palms as a remember reading my mother's last mission report. The Vatican knew the demon responsible was an extremely dangerous upper level demon; that's why they chose to send an Arc Knight like her, as well as back up, to deal with it. I blamed the Vatican and especially the knights of the true cross for my mother's death but I knew I had to keep my anger to myself. "Shut up Fura" I demanded. "as you wish" he said in response as the mist that made up his body went back into the key. I relaxed a bit and stopped digging my nails into my palms, which by now had left little crescent shapes. "lets just get on with the mission" I said to myself and began walking through the amusement park again.
It wasn't too long after when I heard Rin and Shiemi yelling and footsteps as they ran "I guess they found the ghost" I said and began running in their direction to help them.
