I was 5 years old when I was diagnosed. We had always known I was different. I didn't sleep easily, night terrors, and I always would forget directions. It seemed like i went out of my way to break the rules.
Once when I was in preschool, the teacher turned off the lights. That meant be quiet. This is where my memory gets a little fuzzy on it. I turned to my friend who was still talking and shushed him. He kept talking. So, impulsively, I hit him. Hard. He began to cry and so did I because the sudden noise scared me. All of the sudden I was in the principals office, sobbing under the steely gaze of my teacher and the principal.
Nearly a month or two later, my parents took me to "the play doctor" where I would sit alone by myself, and play with a wide range of toys. After a couple sessions, they diagnosed me and I was quickly put on medication.
For the past 8-9 years I have been taking Straterra and never stopped. That was until this summer...
