THIS IS MY STORY(On Editing)

chapter 16

I came downstairs to help myself with breakfast because I wasn't able to join the rest of the family.

I entered the kitchen and fried some samosas with tomato sauce,I put it on the tray with watermelon and strawberry smoothie with a bottle of water.

I hold the tray and made my way back to my room,the house was so quite and empty and I thought everyone was asleep because it was weekend.

As I passed mummy's room,I heard screams and cry,I was so worried trying to figure out what was going on.I quickly stopped bye and entered the room.

Mummy was lying down on the floor rolling from one side to the other with her two hands on her chest as her breath kept seizing.

I quickly dropped the tray on the table and rushed to her"what's wrong with you mummy?"I asked worriedly.

There wasn't a reply, she was just making gestures which I understand. She is asthmatic and she was telling me to get her inhaler.With much difficulties, I was finally able to get hold of the inhaler from her wardrobe.

I quickly put it through her mouth and kept pressing the button to make sure she's taking in the oxygen.

After about 15 minutes, it subsided and she was able to breathe again.I helped her up and lay her down on the bed giving her a glass of water to drink.

"Sorry mummy😓,you should be more careful next time.Make sure you always keep your inhaler close to you,this was a close call only god knows what would have happened if I didn't appear in time"i said with my hand on her shoulder.

"Thanks alot Becky, you really saved my life"she said giving me back the glass of water.

"Come on mummy, I'm your daughter,I can do anything for you.are you okay?I asked giving her a light smile 😊

"Yes!I'm feeling much better "she replied
"Where are the rest?I can't see anybody in the house "I asked

"They went for gym with your daddy,but they'll be back anytime soon am sure since it's almost to 10"

"Oh my!It actually skipped my mind,I've missed today's gym really anyways, it's good that I stayed back else nobody would be with you"

"Yes my dear you are right"mummy said with a smile on her face that showed her teeths😀

I was actually surprised when I saw her smiling at me and I had to pinch myself to make sure I was not dreaming.

"So do you care for some samosas mummy?I actually wanted to have breakfast with it.So please take some I'll be happy if you would join me"

She refused, but with much persuasion she agreed as I started feeding her and she insisted on feeding me too🥟

I went to get another glass as we poured the smoothie and joined our glasses in cheer 🥂

We were so excited as we were eating  and I was wondering why mummy was so free with me today,did she actually forgot what happened between us or she has finally decide to change.

She told me alot of jokes while I laugh out loud 😂🤣.Just then,daddy came in and saw us together.

"What's going on here?"He gasped in surprise 😯 as we all turned to look at him.

I stood up and went to the door to bring him in"come in daddy,you are back."

He followed me to the bed with my hands around his arms and I sat him on the bed beside mummy.

I told him what happened to mummy earlier and he started talking to her."I'm so sorry honey,are you sure you are okay or should we go to the hospital?"

"No I'm fine,thanks to Becky,she came at the right time and saved my life."She said pointing towards my direction while I lower my gaze.

There was a long silence before daddy broke it.He stood in front of me and said"You are indeed a good girl with a heart of gold.May God bless you my princess "
"Come on daddy, she is my mother for crying out loud, it's my duty to protect her"i said

"You are right,come here"he said pulling me to his body to give me a warm hug.

"Where are the rest daddy?"
"They are all in their rooms, they want to shower.I also need to shower I'm feeling hot"He said as he made his way out of mummy's room to his room.

Since daddy left,there was a long silence between me and mummy, she didn't say a word to me nor did I say a word to her too.

I was actually enjoying the moment we were having before daddy came in,but the moment is now spoilt.she was just so quite with her head down without any words from her.

I started thinking maybe she has remembered what was going on between me and her or perhaps she was just playing along since she was alone and now that everyone is back she decided to go ignore me.

I was so uncomfortable and I decided to pack the plates and leave"Do you want to have more?"I asked holding the tray in my hands but there was no reply.

I quietly walked out of the room and went to the kitchen to drop the plates and the cups. I  washed them and arranged on the dish drainer and went upstairs to my room to also take my bath.

There was not a single exchange of words between me and her during lunch as well as dinner.

I cried in my room all alone,my hopes were revived when we were having a chat in her room.I thought we've finally  settled our differences and that we can be close like before not knowing I was only dreaming.

She'll never change, she'll never love me and she'll never consider me as her child again.I thought to myself as I slept off in disappointment. I 😭😭😭
