Chapter 14

In the hospital. For the both of us. Sometime last week I went under into a coma seeing Carter hurt so bad.

"Summer Williams?" I hear the pack doctor walk into my room.

I sit up a little looking at her with empty eyes. "Yes?" I ask desperately.

"Is, um... Carter Kade, your mate?" She asks solemnly.

"Why? What's wrong?" I sit up quickly more efficient now.

"Come with me if you can." I touch my toes to the floor and stumble a little when I try to walk quickly over to the door where she was walking toward Carters room next to mine.

I walk in and as soon as I do I feel dizzy and my heart hurts. I feel it pulsing through me as I'm getting light headed.

"Are you okay, dear?" The doctor says hanging onto me so I don't fall.

"Why do I feel this way?" I ask weakly.

"Carter was hanging on by a thread and still is. He was very close to being killed." I feel like I never have before.

I walk over to him and he has his eyes closed while his heart monitor still beeping and bandages everywhere. I feel moistness under my eyes and tears drop down my face.

I realize I'm squeezing his hand in mine harder than I intended. I hear the doctor walk out, her heels clicking on the tiled floor.

"Summer." Carter whispers. My eyes go wide and I smile.

"Carter." I whisper back.

"Still beautiful." He says quietly.

I smile and hug him the best I could aside from the needles in him and the annoying as hell beeping. But I'm just glad it is beeping.

"Can I go home yet?" I give him a small smile.

"Calm down grasshopper. You were almost-" I pause trying not to cry more. "I almost lost you." I look down trying to hide my red face. He slowly cups my face and looks in my eyes.

"Everything will be okay darling." I look at him in awe as he quotes one of my favorite sayings. He smiles and I kiss him on the cheek. Carter kind of frowns but that is soon replaced when he smirks.

"What are you thinking about.." Carter sort of chuckles.

"Oh nothing, Aurora." I raise my eyebrows and when I do that he mocks me.

"Summer, may I speak with you?" The doctor comes back in.

"Yes I will be right there." I smile at Carter and walk over to where the pax doc was at her desk.

"Summer, Carter can go home with you tomorrow morning." I smile wide.

"Really?" I ask more excitedly. She gives me a small smile and nods lightly.

"But I have something very important to instruct so let's go back so I can tell both of you at the same time." The doctor says handing me the papers and x-Rays, ect. from our visit.

As we walk back into Carters room he looks at me while I sit down next to him in the seat next to his bed.

"Carter you get to go home tomorrow-" Carter climes and sighs gratefully. "But." She states. "During Summer's coma we noticed these unusual patterns of waves in her heart monitor so we checked her head to toe and it turns out when she was getting beaten one of the three rouges that were attacking her bit her. The first second you get home you must mark her to save her life. If it does not happen in 2 days to where you don't mark her right away she will die." Everything processing through my mind is making me shake my head even though I believe everything she's saying.

Yesterday after that news that I could die if Carter didn't mark me it went by like a blur. And now it's about noon and Carter still isn't home.
