NIGHTMARE

❝I'm no sweet dream, but I'm a hell of a night.❞

"OH GOOD," Isabella announced before taking a sip from her heavy coffee mug, eyes not even leaving her cell phone as her brother stepped into the kitchen the next morning. "You're up." Theo immediately regretted his need for caffeine.

"Not today, Satan." He mumbled under his breath, walking around the grand island in the middle of the room. He kissed the back his youngest sister's head, smiling when she giggled at his comment. "What was that?" Isabella asked, actually looking up from the small screen this time.

Theo hummed in response, pretending as if he didn't say anything and when Isabella looked to Maya for a reply, the brunette took a bite of toast. Isabella shook her head, dismissing her siblings and turned slightly in her chair so that she was now facing Theo, who was pouring himself a cup of coffee from the pot.

"Do you know what today is?" Isabella bit the inside of her cheek anxiously, eyes hopeful as she stared at her brother. Their sister turned in her seat at the island as well, the biggest grin on her face. Theo glared at them each and then motioned on his face to a spot where Maya had crumbs on her own face.

The youngest Hawthorne blushed and rubbed the bread crumbs off before excitedly laughing and saying, "Happy birthday Theo!" She hoped off the chair, scraping it against the marble floor and bringing her brother into a tight hug. He smiled slightly, hugging his little sister back.

Isabella stayed on her chair, smiling at her siblings. "You'll find all kinds of gifts in the next room." She told her brother as he walked past her, kissing her forehead before joining her at the breakfast table. "You didn't have to get me anything." He told them quietly, sipping his black coffee.

"Nonsense," Maya gasped, "Of course we did." She grabbed her tea cup and sat with them at the table, abandoning her breakfast plate at the island—a staff member would clean it up. "And before you even begin to argue," Isabella added, locking her phone and looking at her brother seriously.

"We're throwing you a party."

Theo groaned, putting his head down on his arms on the table top. "Told you he'd take it well." Maya shrugged, laughing along with her sister. Theo sat up, eyes closed as he pinched the bridge of his nose. "But I don't want a party, that's your thing." He stared at the middle sibling, not believing what he was hearing.

Isabella shrugged and got up to get more coffee. "We haven't been home for our past four birthdays, we couldn't properly celebrate Maya's eighteenth—" Maya then interrupted her sister, adding to the list of reasons why they needed to throw Theo a birthday party, "—or Bella's twenty first!"

Isabella smiled at the name only her sister called her, her back to her siblings as she stirred in a teaspoon of sugar and some milk to her coffee. "Exactly." She then went to retrieve her phone; she'd drink her coffee in her room whilst getting ready for the day.
