20 years earlier. Alsakan was a very wealthy planet. It stood as a neighbor for Coruscant and enjoyed many great relations. Especially now that the Old Republic and the Alsakan conflict was over. Islanda Chenko stood in the merchant guild meeting with the other powerful members of the Alsakan government.
"You come as a representative of the people Mrs. Chenko?" The Prime Minister asked.
"Yes." Islanda answered. The ministers all looked at each other.
"And what has happened to make them angry. We've all enjoyed relative peace, nothing more?" The minister of war asked.
Islanda was speechless at first but began her speech to the ministers: "Ministers of Alsakan. I come before you as a member of the merchants and the people of our great planet. But now we have learned of the growing tension between the Trade Federation and Naboo. They feel it will descend into conflict. It only speaks to the corruption of the Republic. How long before they come for our people and interfere with our business? My good ministers we stand alone in our darkest hour. I ask that if we have any practices of corruption, then we should end them and look to legitimate business."
The Ministers looked silent. It was no genius that the Alsakan government was very corrupt, but barely anyone had paid attention. After all, wasn't everyone in the Senate corrupt on a level for the most part?
"You ask us to change our business practice?" The Prime Minister asked.
"I do." Islanda answered. The Ministers had looked at each other.
"Very well. We will debate the matter. You may go." The Prime Minister declared. Islanda took her leave.
She returned to their home late that night. Her husband Hakar Chenko was leader of the workers union for Alsakan. He had just established connections with Alderan and a new business contract. Even though they had lived on Raxus, they heard of the tensions that were growing on Alsakan where Hakar was in charge of. They would be staying for a few weeks before returning back to Raxus.
"Do you think the meeting went well?" Hakar asked.
"I spoke my mind to them." Islanda answered.
"That can be dangerous my love." Hakar replied.
"It's worse if we do nothing." Islanda said back.
They both looked at their 4-year-old son: Tobias. Tobias was already able to speak even at the age of 2. Tobias still played with his food though.
"Tobias?" Hakar asked.
The young Tobias looked at his father. "Poppy." He said.
Hakar smiled at his son.
"Are we sure he's not a jedi?" Islanda asked jokingly.
"I hope so. He'd be strong with the force." Hakar answered.
Just then they heard a noise from the kitchen.
"What was that?" Islanda asked. Her voice was full of concern.
Hakar stood up too. "Take Tobias upstairs just in case." He ordered.
Islanda didn't hesitate and grabbed Tobias to go upstairs. Islanda put Tobias in his bed.
"Momma?" He asked.
"I'm sure it's fine Tobias." Islanda reassured. Just then blaster fire was heard. Islanda gasped. She then looked at the young Tobias.
"Tobias listen to me. Daddy loves you. Momma loves you. Tobias, grow strong. Stand for what's right." Islanda whispered to him.
