My name is Charles White.

Swim team captain of Greendale High school, the guy every girl wants, and the boy every guy wants to be.

I had the school wrapped around my finger tips, of course, except for one girl I could never seem to figure out... Annabeth Chase.

Don't get me wrong, despite her classic Californian tan and beautiful blonde hair, she was far from typical.

She was smart, gorgeous, funny, and determined. Her cold grey eyes could petrify you, but they could also be the most beautiful thing in the world when she was smiling or laughing.

Unfortunately, my constant flirting and smolder doesn't seem to get her attention, which means that I need a new plan. What better way to get her than to win nationals?

And tonight, the biggest night of my life, that's exactly what I planned to do.

"Hey Annabeth! Are you coming to the meet tonight? We're competing for the title against some high school from New York, and I promise you we'll kick their asses."

"Oh really?"

"Yup. What if I make you a deal? We win, you go on a date with me. After that, I'm sure you'll be begging for more."

It looked like she was almost... laughing? Despite her odd reaction, the blonde smiled.

"It's a deal. I'll be there."

I grinned, not expecting that at all. I was so used to her flat out rejecting me or making up an "I have a boyfriend" line that I doubted she would agree.

I smiled at the thought. Tonight, Annabeth Chase was good as mine.

"Hey Annie," I greeted before the meet began. "You're wearing the wrong colors."

"First of all, never call me Annie. Second, what makes you think I'm wearing the wrong stuff?" She asked, gesturing towards her purple hoodie. There appeared to be writing on it that I didn't even try to make out, plus it was a few sizes too big.

"Well, we are Greendale. Our colors are green and white. You, Annababe," she rolled her eyes and scoffed at the name, "are wearing Goode purple and black. I'm sure it was just a simple wardrobe malfunction, but don't worry. We'll fix it up when I win tonight, and you'll be begging for my hoodie the rest of the year."

"Sure. Remember that when you get your ass handed to you."

I watched in shock as she turned around, her hair covering the decal on the back of her hoodie. Instead of making her way towards the Greendale side of the crowd, however, she went straight towards Goode, picking up a poster she had left at her seat.

What was going on with that girl?

"Greendale captain Charles White," a voice announced through a microphone as the final event was about to begin. I smiled as I heard the claps and cheers from my school, but it was nothing compared to the other guy.

"And Goode captain Perseus Jackson!" The crowd roared, posters flying in the air and chants being initiated. What was so great about this guy?

I looked into the bleachers to see Annabeth cheering, raising her sign. So first she accidentally wore the wrong colors, then she mistakenly sat on the wrong side. And now I have a nickname?
