The man who I later learned was named Dorian did not know Diarmuid himself but he had good friends who could take me to Diarmuids layer that was further into the mountains, he said I could keep my horse in his barn until I got back with Diarmuid and my siblings. I thanked him for the hospitality and for the stew that warmed my stomach and headed off to bed while he wrote a letter to his friends that could get me to Diarmuid. After a long but fitful sleep I woke up to a gloomy light streaming through the stained glass windows and a pattern of rain on the roof . I rolled out of bed and groggily wiped at my eyes as I open the door and started to walk down the hallway. When I got to the front door I opened it with vigor and caught sight of Dorian chopping firewood in the corner of the yard with a rainproof leather coat. When he saw me standing in the door way he sauntered over to me and told me that he had received a letter this morning from his friends saying that they would be here at noon. I nodded to prove I had acknowledged what he had said and walked back into the house to cook us some breakfast, I grabbed a couple eggs from his chicken coop and some fresh fruit from his orchard, I cooked the eggs over the fire and sliced up the apples and wild strawberries as a sweet treat. When I had finished preparing breakfast I called him in and we ate our shares and headed outside together to finish chores that needed to be done around the farm. Noon arrived but each minute leading up to it felt like a year, when I looked across the highland in search of dorains friends I saw four shaggy figures bundled in furs creeping towards the hidden farm. I ran to get Dorian from the house and waited on the stairs for them to meet us here. When they arrived I soon learned the names to go along with the appearances of the men, the tall but young one with bright green eyes and black hair was Kaltain, the brown haired one with green eyes was Aiden( kaltain's older brother), fletcher was Scottish with bright red hair and a firey temper to match and Darragh was blond with honey coloured eyes and a soft voice. When I first met them I didn't think these men were seasoned in battle like Dorian had told me they were earlier, but that all changed once we were on the trail to Diarmuid. The trek started out slow the incline of the slope kept increasing and I was soon wishing that I had done more excercise in the past.
"Oh well" I thought to my self.
I was just about to ask how many days it would take to get to Diarmuid when Fletcher shushed me and pointed to a large boulder on the side of the winding trail, Aiden and Darragh circled around to the backside of the boulder while fletcher and kaltain walked up to the front, trapping whoever was tracking us, with a lightning fast movement Darragh grabbed a scrawny boy that look to be somewhere near 12 years of age
"What are ya doing wee laddie, why are ye tracking us" fletcher barked out roughly as the boy hung a couple inches off the ground courtasy of Darragh
" please good people I have been cast out of my home for no fault of my own and wandered upon to find this trail, I saw you from a distance and thought you may be able to help a poor soul such as I" he managed to wimper out in an English accent I instantly felt bad for the boy but I didn't exactly trust him but his answer must have been good enough for the men Surrounding me as all their faces softened and decided to let the boy who's name was Connor join us on our journey.
