The Abebe's Household

"I feel like I'm on the verge of going insane", she quietly said to herself. "What am I saying? I should already be used to this." She told herself while holding a soft brush and a spray bottle of bleach mold cleaner and spraying it on the corners of the wood.

At the age of 18, Amara didn't think she would be living in her father's basement. I say it's his because he now has the deed to the house, which in his case he can do and say whatever pleases him. Times like these are when she wishes her mother was here, talking to her in a motherly manner, always showering her with kisses all over, telling her that everything's gonna be okay when in reality it's not. Suffering was one word she would describe herself as. There are many more but I think you already caught on.

Smiling deeply at the thought of her mom, she didn't hear the door opening as her father walks down the steps, checking out the place with his hands behind his back. He squinted his eyes at the area she not too long finished cleaning. "Morning, hmm nicely done Amara but there's still mold there, maybe if you tried harder you wouldn't fail to see that." He says aggressively.

Rolling her eyes at him becoming agitated, " I'll clean it off dad, it's not a big deal" she said sounding frustrated and whispered quietly "You shouldn't talk with your blind self, can't even find your glasses when it's on your shirt pocket". Chuckling quickly turned into fear when he grabs the neck of her shirt and slams her fragile body into the wall. "What the hell did you just say?" he angrily questioned.

In fear of him hitting her again, she lied through her stuttering " I-I said I'll c-clean it off, j-just g-give me a s-second"  Tears threatening to escape her eyes but will to only show that she's stronger than that is fading fast.

Huffing loudly, he exclaimed "Don't you ever whisper when I'm done talking, you hear me? Speak up! I'm the adult in this house, not you! When I ask you a question I expect a proper answer" He lets go of her as he began fixing himself as if nothing just happened "Now, are we clear young lady?" he nonchalantly asked but anger is still evident in his eyes and tone.

"Y-yes, we're clear d-dad" she replied stuttering slightly. "Good, now finish cleaning and do something with yourself, I don't care as long as your not in my sight," he says disgusted while walking out of the basement leaving her in a pit of fear, shivering at the thought of him ordering her around the house as if she's some maid or dog.

Tears cascaded from her eyes down to her chin, "Mum I just want you here with me, even if I can't seem to remember your face, I'm positive you're a lovely and beautiful woman in my eyes. I'm sure if you haven't left us then things would just be a lot less hard but I'm not gonna blame you for leaving because at some point...we're gonna go too so I'm not mad, I just hope you can give me a sign that you're hearing me" she said when a hiccup left her mouth. 'It was too early for this' she sighs.
