The Abebe's Household

Waking up in a dark room knowing its a basement that's now called your bedroom isn't exactly the best feeling at all. In fact, the feeling is quite uncomfortable because of how the bed is made. Placed on the flat ground in the middle of the room, no bedpost and no headboard to rest her back on.

A sudden flash of light illuminated the room, which had Amara fluttering her brown eyes. Her dark brown hair untamed, strands fell slowly down her face. Sitting up, she looked over the bed in search of her hair tie. She sighs throwing her legs over the bed when she realizes that her legs are noticeably shaking slightly. Standing abruptly, she turned to tidy her bed when she chuckles, her head tie was laying under her the whole time.

Walking to the bathroom that was right outside her door, she closed it silently, hoping her father was still sleeping so she wouldn't be interrogated. Turning to the dirty mirror, she looked at her reflection, seeing dark bags under her eyes as she rubbed her face. Clearly, her tiredness is still recognizable.

Unconsciously, she smiled remembering the events that took place in the street last night."I feel like everything that went down yesterday was all that I needed, a release from the heavy burden that was upon on my shoulder" she said to herself pleased.

After cleansing herself, she quickly wrapped her towel around her body, gathering the bathroom supplies that she kept for herself and was about to make her way to her bedroom before a loud knock was on the door indicating that her father is awake.

The doorknob shooked rapidly as he grumbled, "Who's in here, I will knock you out man come out" Still half asleep, forgetting that the only person that could be in there is his daughter.

Panicking, she pulled her towel tighter against her skin not knowing what he might do. Holding onto the doorknob, hands shaking like crazy she hesitantly pulled open the door to see her father standing against the wall arms folded with low eyes.

Not knowing whether he fell asleep or he's watching her, with quiet steps she made her way to her room but before she could touch the handle her father held unto her wrist and gripped it firmly.

"Where do you think you're going criminal!" he yelled, eyes opened wide probably unaware of his actions.

Knowing not to pull away from his grip, she answered back quivering, "D-dad it's m-me, it's me, it's A-amara" Not wanting him to put his hands on her again, she placed her hand on her father's chest pushing him away or at least tried to considering her struggles.

Suddenly, he snapped, "I don't know you, why are you in my house, I will beat the crap out of you criminal!" Absentmindedly raising his other hand that turned into a fist, his first move was to knock out the person in front of him. Amara, obvious to the tears that ran down her cheeks she had no other choice but to kick him in the groin to be released.

Groaning, he dropped on the floor clutching his area while Amara took it as an opportunity to run into her bedroom and slammed the door shut while her heart raced like a wild animal trying to escape her chest. Locking it, she nearly collapsed at the thought of nearly getting punched in the face was frightening.
