part 7 - dare or dare

-zach's pov-
when my name came out of christina's mouth a part of me wanted to smile so big, but i couldn't show that. i was shocked and confused as to why she picked me, i mean i've wanted to kiss y/n for awhile now but not like this. i looked at y/n trying to look as if i wasn't looking forward to this... even though i was. "zach are you okay with this?" she asked me shyly "i guess... i mean a dare's a dare" i said, again trying not to sound too excited about this. "oh come on, it's just a kiss it doesn't mean anything" tate said "i guess you're right" y/n said.

-y/n's pov-
tate was right, it was just a kiss... it doesn't have to mean anything. zach didn't seem to mind, i guess he thought it was going to be as awkward as i thought it would be. he was across the circle from me, so i started leaning inwards, and he met me halfway. when our faces were just inches apart he whispered to me "are you alright with this?", "it's just a quick kiss, it doesn't mean anything... right?" i whispered back. "uh... right" he said.

so i took a deep breathe in, closed my eyes, and connected the gap between our lips. it was really weird, i was expecting it to feel awkward... but it didn't. it felt natural, like we were supposed to be doing it. i could hear "oo's" and gasps from the others after our lips touched, but they were muffled bc it was as if it was just zach and i there. when we pulled apart and i opened my eyes the lights flickered on and everyone cheered.

"oh yay the power's back on" tessa said and everyone started to get up. zach and i just sat there for a moment looking at eachother. i couldn't tell what he was thinking, but i bet it wasn't the same thing as me. he probably felt so awkward during that... and i still find it so strange how i didn't.

we all went back to doing our own thing while we waited out the blizzard. i had been in the living room  reading a book all afternoon and nothing was going on so i decided i'd just get a shower and head to bed. but when i went into mine and tessas room i seen her and daniel asleep on our bed. they were so cute, i didn't want to bother them... but daniel's kind of in my spot. i quietly grabbed my suitcase and walked back out trying not to wake them.

i found zach in the kitchen eating cereal and i sat down beside him at the bar "i thought you were going to bed?" he asked "i was... but daniel and tess are in our bed" i replied. his mouth dropped and he stopped eating "wait tess and dani-" he started but i cut him off "not that dummy, they're just asleep" i said laughing at him. he started laughing too "oh... well so do you need somewhere to sleep?" he asked continuing to eat his lucky charms.

"oh no i'll just sleep on the couch, it's okay" i replied "no, you can sleep with me... if you want to of course. i just figured it'd be comfier than that hard couch" he said with an awkward laugh. "well if you don't mind actually... that'd be nice" i replied "of course, you can go take a shower and i'll be up when i'm done eating." he said and so i drug my suitcase into zachs room... as if this day hasn't been strange enough, now i was going to be sharing a bed with zach.
