"So.." Eugene commented, "who's it gonna be, Y/N?"
You look straight into the eyes of who you want. His golden eyes piercing through your soul, mind, and body. You part your lips to speak, and all that escapes is his name,
"Zion" You clearly speak.
The others look hurt, especially Eugene. Competing with your best friend for a partner must take a tole on their relationship. But the two are closer than words can describe, and you knew that they could never hate each other. Zion quickly replaces his blushing and surprised face with a smirk, as if he knew who you would choose him. He walks to you, putting his arm around you, bold as usual.
The rest of the guys decide to go with each other to grab a bit to eat, leaving only you and Zion. You smile, knowing you've made the right decision, the decision that is truest to your heart and feelings. It's no secret that you've always been attracted to Zion, ever since you first met. The attraction was mutual. But you're not the type to just want someone for their looks or possessions. You made such a good effort to get to know him, you even got all his favorite candy when you went out for supplies, despite how difficult the task was. The both of you even shared things you never dreamed of sharing with anyone. The connection was beyond personal, almost like it was just meant to be.
Zion's warm hand interrupts your thoughts as you feel his hand slip into yours. You look over at him, blushing a bit. He's looking away from you, his pink face standing out even more beside his red hair.
"Let's do something, Zion. Want to stay in the park or get something to eat, or?" You stop, waiting for him to interject with what he would like to do.
"Hmm.." You hear the deep hum, his eyes gazing into the sky trying to think.
"You ever play soccer, Y/N?" He asks his signature smirk.
You smirk back, "Yes actually. I was on the team. Almost captain before this apocalypse."
This seemed to catch him off guard but he definitely liked this news.
"Want to play against the champ?"
"You bet." You get a boost of confidence. You and Zion have always been competitive. It one of the things you both mutually love about each other. The both of you walk to the flat and empty grassy area of the park. Most people go there for picnics but it seemed rather empty today. Maybe it was because of the dark clouds in the distance but you and Zion didn't care. The two of you played soccer for quite a bit of time, about 2 hours. The both of you were almost tied in points, but you have a few points on him. Zion swears he was "just letting you win". But you knew he was way too competitive for this. Right as you were about to make another shot into the goal, you hear a rumble in the distance. Thunder.
"Huh. Those clouds moved over us quick, huh, Y/N?" He asked, a hand wiping the sweat from his forehead. You nod in response, fanning yourself with your hand to ward off some of the heat causing you to sweat as well. You feel a raindrop hit your nose and you and Zion begin speed walking to his car. The speed walking eventually becomes running as the rain begins to pour down on the both of you.
By the time you both make it to his car, you're soaked. The both of you burst into laughter, seeing each other with soaking clothes. It reminds you of the time the pipe busted on Zion during the apocalypse and he got doused in water from the pipe.
"I had fun with you, Zion. Thank you.. this is the most fun I've had in awhile. School keeps me slammed most of the fucking time..." You mutter the last part, looking out the window.
Zion clears his throat a bit, he definitely finds it attractive when you curse. His hand slides to you, laying a hand on your thigh. This time, you blush and look over to the red-headed boy. He starts up the car and pulls onto the road.
The both of you talk about things you have to do before school begins again until he finally pulls up to your house.
"Here's your house, my lady." He coos, jokingly.
"Thank you for today, Zion. Also... there's something I've always wanted to do, ever since the apocalypse." You reply.
"And what's that?" Asked Zion.
"This." You lean in, looking into his eyes for permission, he leans in as well, longing for the contact. You kiss his passionately. it short and sweet. When you pull away, you both look at each other, faces red. You both go in at the same time for another, this one longer and far more passionate then the first one. You unbuckle your seat belt and crawl on top of him. The two of you ended up making out for about ten minutes until you realized where the two of you were.
"Well... as good as this is, I feel like I should get inside. My mom will be home soon"
"Oh- uh- of course-" Zion stuttered out, opening the car door for you. You grinned, kissing him one last time on the cheek. You couldn;t wait to see him tomorrow.
