(3rd person modern normal AU)
The date started out fine. Artemis picked Zoë up at noon for a picnic. The sun was out, not a cloud to be seen. Walking to their favorite tree Artemis set out a small blanket and some sandwiched from her backpack, before leaning back against the tree opening her arms.
Zoë settled in her normal spot in Artemis lap, leaning back into her chest as they watched children run around the park. Zoë mindlessly traced the pattern of Artemis graphic basketball shorts which were covered in small moon crescents.
Resting her ching on Zoë's shoulder, they both closed their eyes relaxing in the other's presence. The world seemed to settle for a moment, no loud cars passing by, or yelling children, just them.
Well until it started to rain.
It started slow, and Zoë tried to stand up so they could walk to Artemis' apartment, but the redhead's grip on her waist tightened, pulling her back.
"It'll pass over us, sweetheart. Just sit with me." Artemis mumbled into her shoulder. Zoë wasn't so sure but the feeling of Artemis holding her so gently, so lovingly, she couldn't bring her self to get up.
Relaxing she tried to ignore it as the rain droplets grew bigger and fell faster. She tried to ignore how the wind seemed to whistle making her nervous. But when thunder echoed through the sky, that was it for Zoë.
Jumping out of Artemis' arms she quickly started to grab their things and the redhead quickly followed as the downpour of rain-soaked them.
Shouldering her backpack, Artemis grabbed Zoë's hand
"Run!" She shouted as they raced through the rain hand in hand laughing like children as the rain fell and leaves blew around them.
After fumbling with her keys for a moment, they stumbled into Artemis apartment, drenched head to toe, shivering, but nonetheless laughing gleefully. Pulling Zoë close Artemis rested her forehead against the taller girls, smiling.
"We should change" Zoë grinned after Artemis kissed her gently.
"Yeah, let me go get some clothes for us" She replied.
Coming back a moment later, a mostly dried Artemis dressed in baggy sweat pants and an old track tee, handed Zoë another pair of sweats with a soccer jersey.
After changing and taking her hair out of its tight braid, Zoë returned to the living room, where Artemis had heated up some leftover pizza from the other day and was scrolling through channels.
Sitting next to her and resting her head on the redhead's shoulder relaxing as Artemis pressed a gentle kiss on her head. Settling on 'Spaceballs' to watch Artemis leaned back against the armrest letting Zoë settle into her chest.
