Friends are your chosen family. I can't count the times I've heard that expression, even on those wooden signs. Especially on those wooden signs. It makes sense that I've heard it so much; Mom moved us into DJ's house and we basically became a family.

Of course, in my house, that quote is basically gospel. But it's got me thinking: What if you catch feelings for one of your friends? Is that incest? Or is that just a stereotype for friends to lovers fanfiction? Maybe it's just a thing where you admit you're super close but you don't want them as a romantic partner after a couple weeks.

This is a rather odd thought to have while standing over a jewler's booth at the carnival, but then again, I'm a rather odd thought. I will not elaborate on that. The piece of jewelry I'm looking at is a best friend necklace. It's not like the other ones, where it just has two pieces. Rather, these come for however many people want them. They're customized with our initials and one matching charm. Like a charm bracelet, but in necklace form.

It kind of looks like a dog tag, and we've got to get going home soon because I can barely fit all of my stuff in my arms, so clearly, I am forcing Jax to carry half of it. Besides, he won me half this stuff. Losing a bet has it's perks. Thus, I have decided that we are all buying one. They're only ten bucks and I know we have that money.

"Okay, so we're going to get eight of these necklaces, please," I say to the girl behind the booth, doing the sale.

She nods and picks them up, as Aria looks at me. "Do you think the boys will agree to this?" She whispers, not really nervous but still not interested in them whatsoever.

I smile evilly, "I don't know, time to find out. Boys!"

They don't come at my beck and call, but they at least show up when I'm shouting for them. "What are you doing, Ramona?" Jax asks, wrapping his arm around me.

"We're getting matching necklaces. They're like dog tags, and you're all paying ten dollars for them. Help us pick a charm," I inform them, walking back to the stand to choose a charm. They're all so pretty.

Alex, rolling his eyes, looks at the charms and sees one that has a simpler design than the others, a tiny yin yang; those things with the half white, half black circle-type things. We all like that, so it goes on the necklace. Ten minutes later, we're out of there. Bolted for the hills. Or, in our case, my house.
