Garrett stands in the corner, watching Jesse and Ava glare at one another. He knows better than to get involved, but he still does anyway.
"You two need to stop this."
They both turn their killer looks to him. He raises his hands and steps forward, "I know ya angry, Ava, but this must end now. The rest of the crew cannot see ya undermine ya captain." Ava loses a little intensity in her stare, "because they look to her for-
"I know..." Ava barks, "...I get it," she stands, looks at her sister, "I'm sorry okay!"
Jesse looks at her again and is about to get up when Ava turns and storms out. She turns to Garrett, "I think we should stop..."
Garrett frowns, "what? us?"
Jesse nods.
"But I thought ya wanted a relationship?"
Jesse says nothing.
"I know we started off having fun – ya no for some tension relief, but-
"I did – do. It's just... Ava is jealous of us."
Garrett approaches her and reaches out to her.
She turns away.
Over her shoulder she says, "please Garrett. Let's stop now. When we get back to earth, we can start up again."
"What did those assholes from the board want you to do?"
She turns and faces him. Her eyes harden, "they want us to destroy that ship when we find it."
"What!? they still gonna to pay us?"
"They said they would. Double in fact."
It is Garrett's turn to turn away. He walks to the door.
"Where're ya goin?"
He says not looking at her, "I'm gonna speak to them," then he leaves.
Jesse rushes after him.
She catches up to him and pulls on his arm. He whips around and embraces her, kissing her hard. She tries to fight it, but the pleasure of his lips pressed tight on hers, and his tongue slipping into her mouth wins. They tongue wrestle for what feels like an eternity, an eternity in pleasure.
He pulls away, leaving her wanting more.
"It doesn't feel like you want to stop."
She stares at him doe eyed, "I have to for Ava."
He lets her shoulders go, "but why? I have no feelins for her, so it's not like we're gonna get together or anythin. You're just denying us what we crave coz of a tantrum."
Jesse does not have an answer.
Garrett shakes his head and starts to walk away.
Jesse takes his arm again. He turns to her.
"As your captain I forbid you to contact the company."
"Why?"
"Because I'm your captain and that's an order."
"They want something else, don't they?"
She lets go of his arm, "I can't tell you. I shouldn't have even told ya what I did. Please don't tell the rest of the crew."
"That an order too?"
She closes her eyes for a moment. When she opens them again, she has a look of steel, and says, "Yes first officer Waynes, it's an order."
Garrett turns and storms off.
Jesse makes her way back to the medical bay.
She sits down beside Paige. Her steely eyed gaze has softened, and tears form on the lip of her eyelids. A moment later she brings her hands up to her face and sobs into them.
