Keith's eyes slowly opened as the light from Lance's window hit his eyes. He felt really warm. Despite the fact he usually felt so cold in the mornings. He often would wake thinking that he was still in the cage or his adopted parents were still within screaming distance of him. But now, Keith felt safe. And when he looked to his side, he could feel Lance's tired breath on his lips.

Keith blushed in surprise, but then smiled. Lance had his arms around Keith's thin waist, sleeping so peacefully.

Love was something Keith didn't really understand. His mind went to "Lance is such a good friend. He makes me feel safe." But, Keith couldn't recognize the feeling he felt for Lance as love. He didn't think he was capable. All he did know was that this was the happiest he'd been in a long time.

Lance opened his eyes when Keith stroked his hand. He looked up, tiredly and met Keith's eyes. His face immediately faded to a bright red crimson.

"Hi." Keith said.

Lance hurriedly sat up and looked down at Keith, who was lying in bed staring at him. Lance clutched his heart.

Oh god, he's hot even after just waking up...! Why am I like this???

Keith sat up, too wiping his eyes and yawning. "Why are you in my bed...?" Keith asked.

"O-Oh! Um, I saw that in the middle of the night you were having a nightmare, so I just thought I'd...crawl in here with you...yeah, sorry, I should've just woke you up or something..." Lance nervously said as he rubbed his neck.

"Don't apologize, it helped. I can't even remember the nightmare I was having." Keith said.

Lance smiled back. "Well, good..." He said.

Keith got dressed in the clothes he brought, grabbed his bag, and went downstairs.

There was already a breakfast feast waiting downstairs. They woke up late, so Lance's mamá, and brothers were at work. It was just Veronica, his papá, and Silvio and Nadia. Mr. McClain got the day off.

"Morning boys~" Veronica sang. She was in the living room playing with the kids.

"Not a word, Roni." Lance said, leading Keith to the dining table.

"Alright, boys. I know tomorrow you have plans with the gang, but what's the agenda for today?" Mr. McClain asked

Keith looked to Lance. "I'm thinking we do a little shopping. Maybe hit up an arcade. What'dya think?" He asked.

The last time Keith went to the mall was when he was 6. With his dad. He couldn't remember a lot about it, but he knew that he had fun. His dad bought him a cool model airplane. But, Keith had no money and no one thought he was in enough of a right state of mind to keep a job.

Keith nodded, sadly.

All the McClains in the house decided to go to the mall together. Keith played with the idea of popping a couple anxiety pills, which he usually did in the morning, but Keith wanted to enjoy that day and didn't want to grow tired. Plus, he was running out and didn't want to waste anymore.

"You taking the bag?" Lance asked as they were heading out the door.

Keith looked at him. "Um...I could leave it at Shiro's house without a problem, but i don't think I can leave it here..." Keith confessed, a bit embarrassed. He was referring to the hippo he had yet to tell Lance about.

He pressed his bag closer to his side. "Whatever it is must be pretty important to you. Alright, let's-a-go." Lance said, patting Keith on the back.
