Dipper's been hiding with his family for two weeks now. He's scared of what will to his family if someone finds out about him.

So he mainly spends his time above the water on the rocks.

He'll sketch the gulls that fly over him in his journal. He'll sketch Mable whenever she comes up, he'll sketch the far away ships, dolphins, fish, turtles, anything just to pass the time.

But today he left the book, he didn't know why, he just... did. He wraps his tail around the rock, same as always. But something was different.

HE was different.

Not him, but his emotions.

Something felt off, he thought it was the fact he wasn't supposed to be there.

But he knew deep down it wasn't that.

He knew what it was, but he refused to believe it.

He sat there, thinking to himself.

To sides of him competed for full control. So he sat there and watched himself.

He watched himself come up with excuses for each party.

One side begged him to go find Bill, begged him to go back to the only place he was truly welcome. Back to that wonderful smile, and warm heart.

The other side argued that he should stay here, were he was wanted. Were his family was...

were he wasn't supposed to be.

So,

he had to make a choice, one choice to decide his future. One choice, and that was his life.

So he sat there for hours, just staring at the water, thinking.

Until, he finally decided what he would do. He quickly swam back down to the cave. He found Mable and hugged her with the force of a bear. "I want to stay," he whispered.  Mable grinned and hugged him tighter, but Dipper pulled away with a sad smile, "but my heart says I shouldn't be here".

Mable was sad but understood, her brother wasn't his happiest here, he belonged elsewhere. She hugged him again, then swam off into the cave. She returned with Dipper's journal. "Here" she said, Dipper looked at her and gave her a soft smile. He pushed it back to her and smiled, "keep it. It'll be something to remember me by" "PSH! LIKE I'LL FORGET MY BROTHER!". Dipper laughs and starts to swim away. After he swims a bit he looks back, Mable sitting there waving. He smiles and waves back, "I PROMISE TO STOP BY!!!". She smiled and Dipper swam off.

though he was sad to leave, he knew deep down that that wasn't the last time he'd see them.
