Now the thing everyone's been waiting for (hopefully).🤞

Rowan's POV

Everything had gone to hell.

That bitch. I got my mate back and she had to mess everything up. I watched as she barged past me.

"Aelin! Wait!" I shouted while running after her.

"Leave me alone!" She shouted back at me while shrugging my hand off her arm.

"Let me explain!" I begged her. I would crawl after her if I had to. But she was having none of it.

"There is nothing I have to say to you and nothing for you to explain!" I fell to my knees as she walked away. Away from me. Away from us. I had hurt her and I didn't know how to fix it. How to make her stop hurting.

He watched as the others in the tent with her rushed after her. I had to follow her. I had to know where she was going. No matter what she said. She would never be nothing to me. She is my mate and wife and Queen. I was in my hawk form as I followed my fireheart. Just to make sure she's safe.

I couldn't quite see what was happening. I didn't quite understand why she had cut her arm until the portal appeared. All wall of flames encased them and when I tried to go through it arrows of fire shot at me. I backed off and tried a different entrance only to find more arrows there.

I scowled. She knew I was following her. I watched as the flames suddenly blinked out of existence and I saw that the portal and wyrdmarks were gone, too. I stared at the place the portal had been. This time I was ready for the excruciating pain as the mating bond broke. Again.

Damn it, Aelin! Why can't I look after you? Why can't we talk about this? I punched a tree and my fist brushed against cold metal and onto paper.

I blinked at it. Then tore the knife holding it in place out and grabbed the paper.

It was addressed to me.

'Rowan Whitethorn,

I am the High Lady of the Night Court, Feyre. Aelin is a good friend of mine. She spoke of you often while she stayed at the Night Court for the past six years. She loves you very much. As much as I love my own mate. So I have written this note on the page she gave me so if I ever left my world or home I would be able to use the wyrdmarks to come back home.

I warn you, though. That if you come too soon you may lose Aelin forever. I know her temper and anger probably as well as anyone. Please do not come before a month's time is up. For your sake and Aelin's.

Feyre'

I stared at the note before flipping it over. I stared at the wyrdmarks on the back and almost chose to follow after Aelin no matter the risks but common sense told me to wait. Feyre is right. One month and I'll see her again.

One month. You made it 200 years when Lyria died. You made it eight months while Aelin was trapped. You made it six years when she was thought dead. You can make it one more month without her.

Feyre's POV

While we had walked past Rowan Whitethorn after Aelin had shouted at him I had briefly brushed against his mind and found that there had been a female who had kissed him without his permission and Aelin had seen. I immediately felt bad for the both of them. So I left him the note. Hopefully, he didn't come before Elentiya's birthday.

As Rhys winnowed in front of me and kissed me I heard Elentiya 'discreetly' whisper to someone. "I'm gonna do that someday."

There was a small laugh from Lysandra.

How was Terrasen? Rhys asked me.

Well... It was beautiful. The mountains. The stars. The flowers. The armies. I smirked at his expression.

Armies? I shrugged.

There was a war basically because of Aelin's 'death'.

Speaking of Aelin... Why is she back here? And who are these three? I showed him what I had seen in Rowan's mind. Oh...

"And this is Lysandra, Lady of Caraverre. Elentiya, daughter of Aelin. And Petrah Blueblood." I raised a subtle brow at Mor. A silent inquiry.

"My girlfriend." Rhys stared for a second. Rhys? Prick? I asked silently. He fainted. "I think I killed him," Mor said. "Petrah, Lysandra and Elentiya. This is my dear cousin and High Lord, Rhysand. Everyone calls him Rhys, though." Elentiya gulped as she stared at him, pale as death.

"Is he okay?" Her words were barely above a whisper. I looked at Aelin to comfort her but saw that she was staring out the window.

I answered for her, "He's fine. Just a little shocked."

Her face regained its colour. "Oh. Whenever that happened to me I was in lots of pain."

Aelin turned on her heels to the hallway she had stayed in last time. Elentiya and Lysandra noticed and followed her.

"I'll show you around." Mor smiled at Petrah and held out a hand for her to hold as they walked.

Rhys woke up a minute later. "Enjoy your nap, prick?" I asked him with a slight smile on my face.

"Where'd everyone go?" He asked as he sat up and rubbed his head.

"They went to go to their rooms. How's Luna?" I helped him up.

"She's off doing cauldron knows what. What did Mor say? I can't remember but it sounded like she said that Petrah was her girlfriend. I must've hit my head hard to have imagined that." I smirked at him as he frowned. "I did imagine it, right?" I shook my head. He got all wobbly again. "She likes females?" He asked me in disbelief.

"She does. She told me years ago and told Aelin after Aelin told her that her cousin likes women and men. Apparently, in her world, people are a lot more open and accepting of that sort of thing," I explained as I held him by the waist. "I missed you like hell," I said while kissing the corners of his mouth.

"What happened to your other favourite word?" I smiled at him, knowing exactly what he meant.

"Aelin happened, you prick." I pinched his shoulder. "Do you honestly know how much she swears? And she doesn't even care if Elentiya's in the room or not. That child is probably going to be swearing as expertly as Aelin by the time she's nine." He smiled at me.

You know, Feyre darling... He was interrupted by Luna, Elentiya and a ghost leopard running rampage past him.

"What the-" He started and this time I cut him off.

"Luna! Not in the house!" I ran after her leaving Rhys to gawk by himself.
