Cal's POV
I reclined against the wall opposite the door to the healer's room, Lyria in my arms. She was playing with my braided black hair. Her pine-green eyes boring into my ebony ones.
My fae ears picked up muffled screams and I almost entered even though she'd told me to wait outside. Even I knew she didn't want me to witness whatever was happening on the other side.
When she finally walked through the door again, her face was ashen, yet... there was an even fainter smile tugging on her lips.
"I should put some proper clothes on," she told me casually as if she had been screaming minutes before.
"I reckon you should. How are you feeling?" I asked her as we walked down the halls.
"Better. When do you suppose that my mother will arrive?"
"By the end of the week, she was searching with Aunt Lysandra, so maybe less." She nodded.
"Can you help me pick out a dress?" she asked as she stood in front of her open closet. I strode beside her and pulled out a sparkly navy blue dress with no sleeves, a wide, flowing skirt and glittering star-like gems across the chest. She smiled at me.
"You should wear this one," I told her and handed it to her.
"That one has always been my favourite. I'm going to take a bath," she replied before walking to the door to her royal bathroom with the dress.
When she had finished and walked out of the room. I was stunned.
She was wearing the dress and a pair of earrings that looked as if they were made of frozen raindrops.
I blinked as she gave me a faint smile, surprised that she could even do so after what she had been through, not once, but twice.
"Sis, pity!" Lyria giggled as she jumped into her arms.
"I'm not that pretty..." Elentiya said with a slight blush. "And my hair still needs to be brushed."
"Never doubt the words of a three-year-old, Tiya. They don't tend to lie," I replied and her blush deepened.
"Tia! Tia! Look! I's makes cold!" Lyria giggled as ice sprouted everywhere.
I watched Elentiya give her a smile that didn't quite meet her eyes.
"Can you make it go away?" she asked Lyria gently. Lyria frowned and shook her head sadly. "That's okay. You'll get it eventually, you are only three after all." Elentiya tucked a rose of sapphire fire behind her ear, not burning a single strand of hair.
She smiled again as Elentiya made the ice disappear again.
"Go see, da?" she asked me and tugged Elentiya's hand towards the door.
"You coming, Cal?" she asked, I caught a flash of anxiety in her eyes, but it quickly vanished.
"Of course. I'm not letting you get captured again," I told her and put my hand on her shoulder. "You are my twin sister after all." And the relief in her face was something I couldn't have imagined.
"Thank you."
"Come on!" Lyria complained as she dragged Elentiya out the door only for us to come face-to-face with-
"Mom!" Lyria squealed and jumped into her arms.
Elentiya's POV
I couldn't move as I stared at my mom. As she sent Lyria and Cal off to the dining room.
I saw the tears rolling down her cheeks as she enveloped me in a tight embrace. I hugged her as I cried.
She stroked my back with one hand and held my head with her other.
"It's okay, Eshne, I'm here. You're safe," she told me.
"I missed you, mom," I told her.
"I missed you, too, darling. My beautiful, Eshne."
"Mom?" I asked her as I pulled away and saw her tear-stained face.
"Yes, Elentiya?"
"C-can you teach me to fight? Like you?" I asked hesitantly.
"Are you sure? I won't make it easy if you want to be really good." She asked me with a deadly serious look.
I almost decided against it, my life was hard enough as is, yet... I needed to know how to fight. To defend myself. So I nodded.
Her face broke into a grin, "We'll start off easy tomorrow morning. But first, let's go eat. I bet there's some chocolate we could get."
"Yes, let's."
A/N
So. I am planning to make a sequel to this, but it might not happen so... Anyway, I will post another chapter if I do make a sequel. Hope you enjoyed the book. Also, sorry some of my updates took forever and that the epilogue was so short.
One last thing, I want to thank you all for the votes and comments and just reading this. Thank you!
Goodbye, for now, maybe forever, Queennightfurious.
