Chapter 5: Fight or Flight

Author's POV

"I can't believe this is happening..." Noah stared at the two got into a battle stance.

Noah, Naomi and some other members of Crimson Lion was standing at the the sidelines as Captain Fuegoleon was the referee. He didn't even intend for this to happen but he was also lucky to see Akari's magic in battle again.

Before the match started, Akari stayed back due to Fuegoleon told her to. She turned to the Captain with a smug look.

"Wassup captain?" She asked, placing a hand on her hip.

Her attitude was absolutely more different than all the times he encountered. He smiled and placed a hand on her shoulder as he passed by her.

"A word of advice." He said, looking ahead. "Winners aren't people who never fail. But people who never quit."

Akari was taken aback but she was having the Seven Deadly Sins, Pride right now. 'Keep your head in the game', Leo's voice echoed in her head. There's no way she's gonna act like she was grateful since she's now Pride.

"Ah. Of course. Thank you Captain. But I got a Royal to defeat." Akari shooed away Fuegoleon's hand off her shoulder.

Okay, now snap back to reality.

"You are so going down!" She remarked as she gave Leopold a thumbs down.

"Yeah right." He rolled his eyes.

"In this match, you are allow to use your grimoires but make sure to keep the damage minimum. Whoever gets pinned down for more than 5 seconds, or surrender losses. Got it? Now, begin!" Fuegoleon announced as he vertically slashed the air.

"Get ready to eat dirt, peasant!" Leopold said as he took out his grimoire. Akari's grimoire was already beside her.

An irk mark grew on her forehead. "Not like I'll know how it'll taste like." She said as she fully charged at Leopold with nothing on her hands, just her grimoire following fast beside her.

Leopold smirk. "Too easy! Flame Magic: Sol Linear!" he exclaimed and aimed at the girl. All she did was smirk back.

As the Sol coming to her, she waited till the nick of time to show others how strong and accurate she was.

"AKARI! DODGE IT DAMNIT!!" Naomi squealed as she covered her eyes with her hands. Subconsciously looking through her fingers and closing it again.

The Sol was a foot close to her and she jumped in the air at the perfect time. She turned her body so it was facing Leopold. As she was falling, she did a quick spell that could end everything easily. She looked at her grimoire for the special then back at Leopold with a smirk.

"Leo's Pride: Contentment Orb!" She exclaimed as she landed down to the ground, holding onto Leopold's shoulder tightly.

Leopold turned his head and lifted his hand to try and grabbed her hand to pin her down but it didn't happened. When he held the hand, it had already vanished.

"Oh would you look at that!!"

Everyone quickly turned their head to find Akari back at where she started with a huge glowing orange ball on her hands.

Akari eyed at Leopold from the corner of her eyes. She was standing sideways for no apparent reason. She had sly smirk on her face when she saw Leopold's figure.

He was standing, his head low, his eyes were covered by his bangs. He looked like he was going to snap. Well, that's what others think.

"Your pride is very big huh? Should've seen it coming from a Royal after all." Akari said with a grin.
